In response to a locked topic (Inactive players report)

Darth_Potter

Since it was locked I couldn't reply to it giving my own point of view.
And I have a response to each post and I will say them in order

thread found here if you want to follow along
http://www.forum.convoytrucking.net/index.php/topic,38745.0.html

1st post @tingyoma: I understand what you are saying here, I too use to think logic and reasoning would help here. Maybe not fix a problem but at least shed some light on an issue. But I found that is not the case on this server. If it makes sense it doesn't matter an admin or friend of an admin has to like the idea/logic/reasoning.

2nd post @matias: I believe you don't understand the point of this post cause it does not benifit you in any way shape or form seeing that you can be on the server frequently enough or the fact that you're and admin and think you're above the rules. And at the whole mick makes rules but doesn't have to follow them cause it's his server....I'm not even going to touch that.

3rd post (my favorite post) found here: http://www.forum.convoytrucking.net/index.php/topic,38745.msg222018.html#msg222018

and i'll paste it cause i love this so much.

Report fake/unused/inactive accounts HERE

its been here HOW long and now your reporting it... its been here longer than you have so your remark/complaint and all that hogwash is completely invalid

@Ethan: Oh yes cause the rule has been here longer then him makes his remark/complaint/hogwash invalid. Ethan I'm sure the reason why he is saying some after THIS LONG is because it was just recently being enforced. Meaning it took you guys that LONG to do your job.

His hogwash is a nice person irratated with stupid stuff like this.

the rest of the posts...didn't have much to say so i have nothing to say to those.

So cause this person made a point that alot of players can't frequent the server. And alot will lose their house vehicles etc etc. which kinda takes away from the point of playing on the server if you have to re-buy a house and vehicles. not everyone can be $nake or Rahail and live on the server.

Basically this rule becomes punishment for not being a frequent player. Myself i might get on 4-8 days out of a month now cause I drive over the road.

So bravo Matias and Ethan for dismissing an honest issue. <--- That right there is an issue.

CrAzYtRuCkEr

Convoy is becoming more of a job  then a fun game. Not everyone can play frequently cause some of us have lives and work for a living. its BS if you have to put a certain amount of time in before a set amount of days and if you dont do so you lose your house/vehicles etc. We want the fun convoy back! oh and Matias if your gonna reply to a post learn how to understand the context of the post before making yourself look like an idiot ty.
QuoteOk seriously, you need to stop. Im on the phone with the michigan state police right now having a case opened against crazy, i dont want to have to open one of you.

Tingyoma

What I am trying to say, like mick, many of us are very busy in our lives, with either school, work or whatever. We might not have time to get onto Convoy to update our accounts. For me I still have school until next week, I have final exams after that and on top, I am working 23+ hours/week. If someone is going to report us after 10 or some-odd days it, that's not even cool. Let's just say hypothetically speaking someone has a medical problem, and cant play on the server for a month or more, how would they feel about coming back and seeing everything gone. In a few weeks, I am going to have surgery, I will be gone for 1-2 weeks if not more, how am I supposed to update my account if I'm gone. I am not against the evacuation to players, I am just asking that admins be a little bit more lenient and give people some time. Maybe after 1 month of inactivity, their account will be monitored. After a few more days, that's when they get evicted.

One month? We go over several months of data of missions, time spent online, and just general playtime to decide if a player is to be watched.

that was in response to your post/complaint about people being evicted in the first place.. that list has been there for the sole purpose of reporting someone who you know is not playing actively. and we do check peoples activity with several months of data.. the most fays a person has been checked for, I believe, was 215 days. so yes, we check people if players know that someone has stopped playing here and they have no reason to return

and staff arent exempt from this data as well, staff are players, but staff members are more active than members because, they are staff..

Konali

You guys are mad, i get that, but thats not a reason to blame us admins and staff for the fact you guys are ''to'' inactive over several months and therefore being refunded for your house BECAUSE there are players out that  do manage to get more than 6 hours over 90 days.

We take a period of 90 days, which provides us with enough info to refund or not. That means, you have been reported atleast 90 days ago when you do get refunded for your house which is more than reasonable.

About the, staff is above the normal player remark, no! only mick is and always will be, dont like it, well that sucks for you, has been since 2010 like this and its pretty obvious thats not gonna change lol.

Basicly this:

And i just want to take this moment that i have to thank you SO much for giving me the chance to be a moderator. I really enjoyed it, and although I made bad decisions (like playing MW3 too much haha xD), I really really did enjoy helping players like never before. You were my role model, you were the best admin I had seen in years, and there will never be another one like you.

It will take another to replace me, but I dont think CT can recover if they lose you bro, I wish you the best.

(Pretty sure you hear stuff like this every day XD You're like Chuck norris)

It's unfair that admins can teleport to buy house, and reset their own camping score, but we have to trust that they won't abuse it. We have to trust them anyway, because the server is in their hands. Without admins server is nothing.

Matias

Playing on a community like Convoy Trucking and own something at it means you gotta be an active and regular player. When you are inactive it means you are wasting a house that could be used by a player that is way more active than you, he also has the right to enjoy this server as much as you do, and since you are inactive why do you need a house?. To be able to own something at Convoy Trucking you MUST play here and you MUST be an active player. I don't get why complaining for something admins tracks over several months before take any action.
And being online 4 days in 1 month is not active enough but you still have another month to improve your activity and prove the admins you are active enough to be able to own a house. The issue is that some players use to play few hours for months and then comes up saying they are active enough when admins logs proves he's lieing.
So Hobo summed it pretty well:

@admins I think you should show them some watch list proof so they'll understand.

What would that gain? :)

They have more than enough time to come onto the server, they should think before buying huge houses (2 slot upwards) if they will be active enough, to be honest, why should they get to keep a house by logging in once in a blue moon when there's someone who wants a bigger slot house who works hard every day for it has to race for a house and loose it.

Yet players are reported after 10 days of inactivity? Makes complete sense right?

Tingyoma

I am not complaining for the fun of complaining, I am just saying, some players, would go out of their way to report others for inactivity over 10 days. At least add a rule that players are only to be reported after 30 days, no less. That's all I ask. I do not hate on any admins. You guys are the greatest, but I would not like to be on the inactive report list after a week, even if I won't get evicted. To have my username on that list would make me seem like I don't care about this server, which I do. Now since there is nothing more to say, please lock this topic, and leave it do die.

Basically, if someone is logging in every 59 days to keep their house, we check anyway even if it says 10 days ago. Because if they last logged in 10 days ago, and their time before that was 59 days before that; we still check anyway.
Im not great at explaining the whole system.

Various things are taken into account:

last time you were on
last time you completed a mission
last 7 days (online time)
distance driven

(this is only what i've seen)

I mean, i'd hate somebody that came on just to drive around the block, do the shortest mission and then leave for 59 days. It's a waste of a database field, and a house. It's selfish.
