The question is - do you enjoy this way of playing (lags, crashes, logging in/out 5x times an hour)? Because I don't.

PS: I love the server, but some improvements would be welcome. I cannot understand policy of "play don't bitch no matter what".
Only yesterday I noticed a little bit of lag when entering commands, I have never timed out or had any desync problems, it's your internet or you are playing on peak server times, I have reinstalled my game around 10 times in the past week cause of mods screwing it up, right now everything works perfectly with no bugs. And what would you rather? the server being down for 2 weeks and then up for a few days then back down for another week because of DDoS attacks? or just have the server crash a few times a day because of high player count?

Yes, improvements could be made, but I don't know what mick can do to improve it. If he puts the server on EU, it won't get DDoS protection so... Or it's DDoS, or lags/dc's...

Dobby

The servers gone off for what? Five minuites.. Enough time for a person to go out and get some fresh air, or talk to friends. Let's do a vote..

DDOS Protection - but with 10 minuites downtime a day, slight (for me) lag, and there's the rude people in crashes etc..

Or

No DDOS Protection - slightly less ping (for us euro's) full uptime with high playercount, and 1-3 weeks downtime?
Be honest :) I'd rather have the first option

No doubt I'd rather have the first option. When Convoy was down for those weeks, I went out a lot with my friends (which is a thing I like a lot tbh), but I also liked to play CT when I got home from school and such, just to relax.

nyolc8

for me, the new location is good, it was perfect in the first two weeks. But since 3-4 days, I'm getting random "mega"-lags, 2days ago when I connected, I got desynced in 3-4 sec multiple times. It was laggy today too, but atleast it was playable. Btw in the past 3-4 days, the server starts to lagg when ~60+ players online. If there are 30-40 players online, then no lagg.

Yes I prefer to play on the server that is actually online and doesn't cause severe lag and also doesn't make majority of people have high packetloss (3% or more).

What people need to understand is that it has nothing to do with location and stop whinging about it. mick lives in europe and is happy for it too be hosted in America since it's a better location.

Also would this argument really be going on if the server was originally hosted in the USA all along from the time CVT started ? I am guessing not.

Hey there:D

I took some days before i wanted to reply here, i have read every comment placed here and i understand every single one of you.
I hear alot of players  about the ping, well to be honest, the only thing thats annoying is that i cant do my job as admin as properly as i could before because it takes more time to load commands and map areas.
Besides that, as admin and as staff member, we have access to the server side packetloss, where it was before around 0.1-0.4 max packetloss, it is variable from 0.4-1.5 now at certain moment and especially at peak times things are tricky.

For those who dont really care what im saying, meh, but TFP ( Thefluttershypony) has a valid point here, and that is that something changed in the last few days, and i know mick said, everything is working well and all, but i think the question everyone should ask is that: What/why has things changed in the last few days/ why do we have randomly lagg spikes.  I do not have the answer, but i do know that the location is not  much of a problem, but it isnt as smooth as it was in the beginning, and that's all i can give to you guys now..

And i just want to take this moment that i have to thank you SO much for giving me the chance to be a moderator. I really enjoyed it, and although I made bad decisions (like playing MW3 too much haha xD), I really really did enjoy helping players like never before. You were my role model, you were the best admin I had seen in years, and there will never be another one like you.

It will take another to replace me, but I dont think CT can recover if they lose you bro, I wish you the best.

(Pretty sure you hear stuff like this every day XD You're like Chuck norris)

It's unfair that admins can teleport to buy house, and reset their own camping score, but we have to trust that they won't abuse it. We have to trust them anyway, because the server is in their hands. Without admins server is nothing.

Maybe Volt is experiencing some sort of lag or hardware issues that are provoking this huge lag. It would be good to contact them and ask why the lag got raised last week.

Thats not needed pony:) Mick does care, otherwise he wouldnt have replied here in the first place.
He has been way 8 days to Poland for vacation and just came back, cut him some slack:)

Besides that, every host has it issues, and its true that ping is not much of a problem, but its not true, it is not  a problem at all.
At peak times + convoys + players in front of you that have mods/ bad pc = not fun to drive due to the ping/lag spikes.

DeHavilland: Nope
DeHavilland: Boy is from NL and Viper is from AUS

We aren't brothers, we just act like them.

Hobo

One lag spike and *bam* everyone complains. No matter where we go there will always be some kind of lag at some point. This is an online multiplayer game, you should be lucky you can even connect to other people like this. I have no lag. My laptop plays GTA at 100fps and I have fiber optic internet.
I've been cop for the past couple weeks and if there is lag as a cop you can't really catch suspects. I've arrested plenty of them without any lag issue.

Stop complaining about the server. There is no lag and the server almost never crashes now.
