you wait for it, it arrives, you get on, it leaves, it takes your money automatically when you depart... this is a pointless suggestion having no  benefit whatsoever..

Well, it does have the benefit of making it more realistic, but it is not in any way necessary, and It won't change really much, so -1 from me.

For starters it would stop the ramming. A toll booth could easily solve the problem by not allowing people to pay for 10-15 seconds (enough time for the others to clear the boat). +1 for this.

It looks like a nice idea Eric, but how would that work on LS Island?

And would this system prevent people from using the wrong gate to get around paying?

If this was implemented, the waiting time for the ferry would have to be extended to accommodate the amount of time needed for players to get through the gate and still make the ferry.
