Well, it does have the benefit of making it more realistic, but it is not in any way necessary, and It won't change really much, so -1 from me.

For starters it would stop the ramming. A toll booth could easily solve the problem by not allowing people to pay for 10-15 seconds (enough time for the others to clear the boat). +1 for this.

And would this system prevent people from using the wrong gate to get around paying?

If this was implemented, the waiting time for the ferry would have to be extended to accommodate the amount of time needed for players to get through the gate and still make the ferry.

It would be better what exactly your script can do, because maybe mick88 has understood or expecting something different.

For example, maybe you meant, just add invisible check point near ferry terminal, where anyone touches the checkpoint makes payment of 800$
But mick88 maybe thinking, that he will need to make some other way of doing it, because NOT all people wanna go to ferry who passes by that checkpoint, so why should they pay it? Therefore mick88 thinks of more complicated script.

Further, there are different payments for each type of reclass section, cops, truckers (loaded or unloaded), thiefs, just walking by without any car (free).


Like this there are many more reasons, and hence even a small script becomes complicated automatically, which CREATES LAGs.

Therefore lesser the complicated scripts, lesser the variables in the script, lesser the lag in the server, which is better for the players.

My idea was to put a toll to delay the boarding, not to pay at it. It would prevent people from boarding the ferry for like 15 seconds, so the other ones could get out. I don't think it's needed in LS island but it is needed in LS.
