Few weeks ago my HD died. I don't know why exactly, but this issue im having now may be the same cause.

I was on CT, had a few programs running in the background (Skype, Xfire etc). All of a sudden i heard a noise, the kind you get when you turn your PC on (hopefully you know, the sound of the power running through the machine) and my whole PC just seized up. Turned it off and then back on, turned out, at the time my HD had failed.

Brought my new OS (Windows 7) but before i started to install it, i thought i'd try out to see if mentioned hard drive was truly dead. It powered up. So i installed to that (bad idea). It still works to this day, except im hearing the same noises again, it happens after 2 hours of use. think my PSU is the reason this is happening? its a shitty generic 250w thing i got with the case

Think it's worth me buying a new PSU? I'm planning a build soon anyway so i might as well buy a new one ASAP if you think that's the issue, or the hard drive is failing i'll get a new OS as well as an SSD.

Well, i got Windows 7 in the mail. From Ebay.

Here's the issue. Im trying to install from CD, on an old IDE connected disk drive to a SATA powered HDD.

HDD has been formatted, and it's a clean install. However, it hang's at the "Select drivers to install" option. I've scanned my PC for "drivers" to install. It wont find any, and i can't progress past this point.

Any ideas? Should i download an ISO from the internet and use my CD key to activate it? burn to USB etc..

What are packets?
Explanation:

Packets, are bytes of data sent between you and the server. Each update, callback, command and function is executed more quicker with less packetloss. Think about it like a letter

What is packetloss
Explanation:

Packtloss (remember "Letter" i mentioned?) think of each "byte" of data (or letter) is sent to you bit by bit. Then, somewhere along the line. A bit of the "Letter" is lost. Thus, making you Desynced. Nothings sent properly, you experience chat lag, people appearing to teleport, false smokey bans(bad!).

Good things about a desync?

It gives smokey a reason to wanna bit your ass.

Bad things about a desync?

As mentioned. It gives smokey a reason to bit your ass, because you aren't in sync with the server. Thus, making admins have to stop what they're doing to make sure if it is/isnt a false ban or not. If you check /mypacketloss. I reccomend a relog, purely because:

A: Admins have more important things to do.
B: You dont want to get banned?
C: Im sick of seeing the typical "Lagggggggg" in chat.

TL:DR?

Well short version,

packets == data.

packetloss == dataloss

data== data sent/recieved between client and server.

returns? missed/duplicate/bytes resent.

Hopefully this has explained it a bit more, and please stop stating the obvious. we know there's lag, and micks working to stop the lag.

I've got a suggestion for nobody understandind sync on sa-mp.

If there's no admins online, and a player is wondering why they cant see buildings loading on mapped islands etc, or why they're lagging, it usually means they're desynced. How about the player can check their packetloss?

They can't see anything related to the server that could damage anything. They just see their own stats. Packetloss being the good one to see.

I'm asking this because i've been in the LV dirtring tonight, the lag was awful. I like the fact that we're at 100 slots again. But i hate the fact that there's so much lag. I know it's been less than 48 hours. But i want to know if anyone else is having the same experience as me. Just cast your vote. List your issues. No flaming, and keep it clean.

My issues

• Chat lag
  
• Player lag (player in front will teleport behind me, or he'll tp into me causing crash)
  
• Ferry Derping (ferry arrives in peices)
  
• Desyncs
  
• Ping Spikes("Your ping is too high" warnings regularly)
  
• Lack of updates (See shakes post). I agree with him fully. I'm not too sure if it's the same as the UK in Ireland, but a lot of the colleges/universites go back to learning in September. That leaves a month. That's not a lot of time. I dont want to put pressure on Mick in any way. But he could do with the help. I'm not speaking for him or demanding, just my thoughts. Partitions of the script to fix wont mean the GM being stolen entirely.
  
  Floating bins: go to each one in game. Type /save on top of the bin. you'll be able to get the X Y and part of the Z from it. Use that, and email/pm mick and give it to him. He can then search for the coordinates and the bin object, and remove it.
  
  The bug i showed with the two skins, just organise the dialog responses.
  
  /timelap bug still there, may create a timer, i don't know. But easily fixed with a variable

I have 0 mods. A clean img file. My PC has GTA on high priority. Its only me using my internet. My ping usually averages around the 250-300 mark. But every 5 mins or so i get the ping warning. I check my ping, its perfectly normal as i mentioned around the 250 mark. If i remember correctly, before the DDOS's started, we were at 96/100 players constantly around 22:00pm UK time. Now just checking, we're at 44/100. You've raised the server slots. But its done nothing :/ i've seen it highest at 56.

Admins can lock this if you wish. So can mick. But i'd like to know what everyone else's issues are too. Even partake in the discussion.
