It's currently open for VIPs only and it may take time to log in at first due to ongoing database maintenance. Should be ok tomorrow.
It was laggy when I was online earlier. Server had 4% packetloss and I had about 6%. Hopefully that fixes itself over time :)
hopefully it will be better once database is settled. was on just now and commands are sluggish, that will get better with time I guess.. dont be surprised if/when you get on there and none of the commands work, or they are just really slow to respond

The new host is Amazon.com web services (I think). Big company = giant DDoS protection. In theory.

IP address shows it's a Elastic Compute 2 server (EC2), which hosts reddit, Netflix, Dropbox, PS3's Uncharted servers and Ubisoft. It's quite right to say it has good DDoS protection... It also appears to be a Windows server. It could be possible that it's a gameserver host using EC2 as a server node instead of using their own hardware, but for some reason I doubt it.
Mick, make sure you close off port 3306 (mysql) to everything but Volt's webserver and perhaps your IP address range, and enforce a password lockout policy on Terminal Services (http://www.wikihow.com/Secure-a-Remote-Desktop).

Mick is the deciding factor on when the server is open to everyone, not anyone else.. if he feels it needs more time to adjust and the server and logs, and database to become more smoothly synced together, then it will still be a test phase.

Admins probably can't warn or ban anyone at the moment due to the lack of connection to the database on the website so it's not a good idea to open the server up to everyone and then have to handle the huge amount of reports and catching up with that afterwards.

Out of curiousity why do you want to move it back to Europe ? Most players haven't had any complaints since the server was moved to America including the European playerbase so I don't know the reason to move it if it's stable at the current location.
I like it so far. Despite the occasional server wide desync every 10-15 minutes, and the spiking pings, (i average 260, noticed it jump to 280-330 not very often.)
If its ok, i wouldnt mind saying that it would be ok if we tested your other choice, (ColorHost), if possible, just to get a comparison between web servers, and a gameserver, tuned to the actual game.

We had great experience. Yes, it is great. About the moving host in Europe, nah. Everyone has a bit higher ping, little laggy, but everyone are able to play, Europeans and Australians. While it was hosted in Europe, Australians wasn't able to link 1 hour straight of play. So now none is complaining. Also if you didn't saw my suggestion in staff board, let me suggest you again here. Freeze all houses because it's unfair for those who are not VIP but want to buy house. There are clearly stated what are the advantages of being VIP. There is nowhere about a support server when the main is here. Yes, I understand you let VIPs to test to have more players testing, but houses should be frozen in my opinion.
I like it, its way better, much faster.
But i think we should keep it where it is untill we won't have problems there(i hope that we won't).
Btw in server info it still says that we are hosted by Volt Host.

My experience from me being on:
Sometime's i get a bit of chatlag. Like i'll type a message, it'll take 1 or 2 seconds to appear in the chatbox. Ask an admin, i'm not desynced :o . Commands seem to execute normally though, so i can't complain. Just a reccomendation, keep it where it currently is, there's players like TheSandman and other Aussie's that'll get high pings, timeouts, and desyncs. The EU's that complain about ping difference know nothing ;) they think having an extra 100 or so ping is a bad thing :P
Also, as benny said, if you go onto convoytrucking.net, look at server info, it still says Hosted by Volt Host.

Now that server is at america by some reason im getting 260 ping like if it were hosted at Europe. But its performance is the best so far. Some little lags every once, not that common but makes you think you are about to desync :P
The host is good, please dont move it to europe. Now the ping is fair for everyone.

For manny of us the ping is above 200 , and in Europa was below :) , but for me works fine.

For me high ping is not very big problem, but sometimes its loading slowly.
I am ok with ping as far as i dont get kicked for it :P
And today everyone was saying i lag very badly.
The host in france was very good, the real shit started when we moved to england, it was catastrophic. I think we should at least try a host in europe and if it fails again, set it back to US for good.

I get ~120-150 ping now and I had ~40 ping on the previous host. There really is absolutely no visual difference.

The pings are ok. The packetloss gets out of hand sometimes. Servers at 30 players, and i had 3% within a minute of logging in.
Ive noticed that packetloss causes ping spikes so that might be the problem for some.

Personally the new host isnt as good for me, i get alot higher ping and more lay/dealy.. when doing comands they always have a 2-5second delay which is a pain in the ass and i always have to pull over to wait for the map to load! but it is playable so im happy :)
If you want to give all players a say in this. you should move this discusion to the general section of the forum. this is only visible for vips.
as to my opinion. test it first in eu before making any final decisions.
personally i lost my play appetite when we eu players get blamed for making thr general ping high for non eu players that are closer to the host.
this is a delicate matter and to my opinion it means alot to alot of players and nothing should be decided without given a chance to the majority of the community to share their opinion.
(as konali/player i say: hate lagg/higher ping at peak hours+players with mods infront of u. so yes as vinny said i miss france and it was my best gaming experience as to ping/host related questions.
As konali said, peek hours with players and the host in the other side of the world its just madness, since europe time zone is the most played, the host should be in europe.
Even now, with the host in usa, assuies have problems relating ping and de-sync, i have nothing more to say.

When the server was in France "us" aussies could barely play to a ping under ~350 and always had packetloss to the server, when it was moved to American everyone but the Americans had a ping of or around 200-250 and everything was good, now you want to move the server back to EU where "us" Australians will be barely able to play and in my opinion that's pretty unfair.
Its pretty selfish to say that the server MUST be in Europe. The server will be where Mick deems necessary.

ps: not all europeans chose for 'Yes'.. i'm from belgium and i said 'No'. my locations doesn't matter. I just need a working host .. one that doesn't lag for nothing or one that doesn't get ddosed every sec. If your ISP is good & Host connection, then there will be no problem with the big distance

I am located in an American Timezone, but speaking from a non biased point of view I have to say it is unfair to Euro players in all aspects of this situation .. I believe the server should be hosted in Europe ...

It's not the location that makes it laggy._. It's the host and the quality of the host, so for me, as long as I can play smoothly with no problems, I couldn't care less where the server was hosted

I know this is just a temporary state, but I think this 50 slot makes CT falling down...
I mean:
there is no enought slot to connect > many players never can connect > they just getting tired of this > they'll move to another server > CT losing users and community.

More slots = more lag. more players leaving. It's exactly the same however you look at it.

Make it 80/82, like it used to be :)
75 slots will be enough for the ~6-8 hours during peak time/evening at GMT.
50 slots is to less and it is really frustrating for alot of players that try to connect for alot of minutes sometimes.
As someone stated above, it is killing CT kinda and losing members due to it.
I must say the lag isnt even noticeable anymore xD

it all depends of the host, and samp is already lagged by itself.

Amazon is not meant to be a games hosting server.
Its hardware doesnt meet the requirements to keep up a server up to 100 players without lag.
Volt was meant to host game servers, and the hardware was pretty good, but they had lack of ddos protection, which sucks and makes all their efforts to keep the service online useless.
can i say something here please as a old vip and a Server_Owner like mick88 is how about do this have 2 servers one in the USA and the other in Europe have the one in Europe password lock and let only the Server_Owner Server_Mods Server_Admins in there test it out for some weeks test out if there is any lag if all the commands work if there are any bugs any thing like that then let there been a meeting heal with all staff mick and you all come to a chose what to do from there if the Server should stay in the USA or move to Europe that way all your staff well have a good ideal of if the server lags or not if they and you can use the commands both users and owner,admin,and mod just a tho the lord give me mick88 love you bro and love the server and oh i love this app you made for the cellphone call Notepad keep up all the grate work you do mick88. p.s. sorry if my eng is bad i have Dyslexia Thanks you all for taking the time to read this and unstained it

what you think a Server_Owner is just like mick88 iam one to and yes i run samp game servers so i know the money it cost + all the things you have to put in to it and i have run more then one game server soon i well be running 50 game servers and not all on samp but this is not about me it's about mick and his game server im just saying i think this well be a good thing but mick88 is the big boss here let him see what he thinks about it i was just ig about 1 min ago not getting any lag at all then i was going after someone who was showing green i was trying to go and stop him and his traler was going all over the place then i lost him then when i try to go back to where i was chastising him i seen on my may where he gone to i try to go there but the map was not loading so i try to go back to where i was before and the road was gone then no one was talking at all not one then i was kick for a high ping but i do not think that's the network or the game servers fult because im not on my own high speed Internet here im using a friends high speed Internet and im on the 5 floor and he is on the 4 floor and he lives way in the back im only getting 5.5 mb so ya
