We were playing minecraft and i made a special sign for hobo :P
I made the sign, waited till night and told hobo to get on the house roof and turn on the switch and this is what he saw xD

I had a video of it but sadly it got corrupted. I will get a video of the huge circuit behind this :P
Also hobo did his own elevator with pistons (epic one) but i forgot to get a video of it :( i will get a video of it tomorrow :P
I did the same thing with runway lights :D
I use to play minecraft (cracked) with Hax and a few others, but than the server got abandoned.. Then a few months ago I bought Minecraft and since than only launched it once since I have no one to play with :/

Its not 'Abandoned' it is still running FTB DW20 5.0.1 and you know that im a cheapass and wont spend money on hosting so i do it on my own with my own hardware.
Wait.. are TS, you matias and hobo and such playing in some server?
I havent played vanilla since beta 1.6.6
I wasnt playing it with them, i hvent played it in awhile, i just played SP when the server was down ages ago, and i made a runway with switchable lights.

Its not internet issue, i have about 2mbps upload. Thats plenty enough to host atleast 2 slot one. The problem is that the processor gets overflooded with process and the server starts to lag :P
What processor do you have? :o

Minecraft isn't really that processor hungry, it's more ram dependant.

Cheddar Mill or Prescott?
Minecraft runs better on single or dual core processor due to it cant take advantage of 4 or more cores. Im running mine off a old Athlon 2400+ which is 2.0Ghz single core.. I use around 563MB out of768MB of ram. Processor is around 60% load while running with stripped debian.
Java is afaik a ridiculous RAM hog. But yeah. Pentium 4 3.0 single core performs better than Core 2 Quad 2.3Ghz while running server due to nothing can use efficiently multiple cores yet. Ofc you can assign each core to each program (in VMs it is handy to give like single core out of 8 to 1 machine and another core to another machine)
I got a friend who hosts a cracked Minecraft server with no lag :o

I agree with you on the Java statement. What i might do, is get Linux on an old pentium i have. Just to homehost. But have my main machine for games and such. For the old Pentium, ill just slap some fresh thermal paste, and a new CPU cooler on it :D should keep it cool enough. But can you run a Minecraft server off Linux?

Yes you can run it off linux, my host basically provides me with a VPS setup on a linux kernel then I can choose what Minecraft Variant I want and add whatever plugins I want.
I'd like to learn how to script Minecraft as well as sa-mp but i can't get my head around it :(

Sure you can run it on linux. Linux is best base for servers. (No unstable heavy windows crap) my stripped Debian uses like 32MB itself out of 786MB and rest is for LAMP, Samba, SSH and the FTB server.

No texture pack as Hax mentioned, they are models from the xycraft mod that's only available in the Direwolf20 Feed The Beast pack and the minimap mod is REI's one.
The list of mods I use is a long one, but basically it's Direwolf20's mod pack with Advance Machines, Logistics Pipes, Bibliocraft and Jammy's Furniture mod.

to power massfab and generate UU matter to make more lapis to rechage the LHZ condensators to keep the reactors cool.

You watched the last 4 episodes of direwolf20's lets play as he shows a full nuclear setup and making off you uu matter etc and using golem's to autofill the reactor.
I used logistics pipes and hoppers do it but now i saw the more stable version by Direwolf20 so im just using it. I got like 27k lapis in my AE network (and 980k cobble ;P) I just love the applied energestics you can fit millions of items to a size of 2x2x3 storage node.
I was pulling the used LHZs with logistics pipes because i found it only one which works with the data values at that time. then ran it through 2 crafting tables and from there via hopper to the reactor (Hopper because it is kinda as a buffer)

I haven't gotten the grasp of Applied Energestics yet but it seems to be a good storage solution :)
It is probably best there is available. Great replacement for logistics pipes.. Though after you starting to have the alot stuff hooked to it you need to start thinking how you gonna power it. Atm i got steam boiler powering only the AE network. But hey, coal is cheap. Also i got oil producing bees which i modified so they that they are fastest workers and do not require daylight nor is effected by rain. I got just bunch of them in alvearies producing me oily combs which i then just centrifuge and squeeze for oil and then refine it and run my boilers off the fuel. Also i got Steve's treefarm as an backup fuel supply by using saplings, i just turn them to biomass and biofuel.

My best recommendation for you then is create a room and make 2 big steam boilers if you have the resources and then create steam engines.
For unlimited water use a xycraft waterblock (I think it might work) or try an aqueos acummulator. As for powering the boilers, create a blaze farm far away from your base to save lag and use item teseracts or ender chests to transport between the boilers and your blaze farm output :)
