Hey Vinny, I have i5 too and Intel HD4000 and a GeForce GT740M, and at my laptop it switches automatically when I open games. If that doesnt work you could try rightclicking on the program you want > run with > select videocard

So after browsing several forums i found out that almost every HP G-series laptop have the same issue they can't switch from fucking Intel 4000 to their performant graphics card. I think the only way left for me is to return the laptop and buy another one.

Also what i read around the internet about the G series that some said that the dedicated chip somehow got name of HD400 for some reason andthats why people are confused. Or then it really switches when you launch a game (how it detects it that its a game and not a youtube in fullscreen?) silently and you dont notice it.. Mind you laptop graphic chips are not powerful so you may not feel the difference so much

Did you consider disabling the Intel graphics chip in the device manager?

Also there should be an option in AMD Catalyst thingy to always use AMD card, it might be "high performance", "no power saving" or something like that. Also, go into "Power Options" in control panel and make sure you are using the "high performance" power plan.

BIOS/UEFI might have option to disable "integrated graphics" or something like that, or you may be able to select "discrete graphics" as an option.

Don't waste your time anymore I tested all the things you said a long time ago + I changed the pc to another since 1 week (i5 + NVidia).

But thanks to everyone for at least trying to help.
