PS3 not working

Ok, so my brother was playing  videosgames on our PS3 today and it all of a sudden stopped on him. When it stopped, the light first blinked yellow then it started flashing red until the power button was pressed, at that time it went solid red into standby.

This happened to my old PS3, where when turned on it would beep as normal, flicker yellow quickly and then flash red quickly with 3 beeps.

Manuals say it could be overheating (in which case leave it off for a few minutes) or a hardware problem. Mine was a hardware problem

I have a feeling it was a hardware problem, although when the HDD was removed it was hot as hell, and my brother, being the smarty pants he is, put it in the freezer to cool it off

I'd say its toast from the condensation, before you even attempt to plug it back into the play station, put it in a bag of rice for 2-3 days, if Sony is anything like xbox, it can still play with a hard drive failure, just you use the internal memory. I'd put money on a GPU problem, or a CPU problem.

And of course the hard drive is going to be hot, you have 7 hot cores running in conjunction with a massive GPU, running in a little plastic case with a fan or two, everything inside will get hot, Disk drives, hard drives, wiring, gears, anything and everything will get hot.

If its 1 of the slim ones it heats up damn quickly. And on me the 1 fan is completely useless as it spins like at 20% all the time. Is there anyway to hack the fan controller? Why everything must be made so thin so they dont work. All new laptops are useless too as they are so slim that they fant fit any fans inside and the heat isnt going anywhere. Could they just make the old fat laptops with proper 40mm fans inside.

For condensation i put those 'Do not eat, throw away' bags in my computer etc to absorb the moisture. I dont know does it really work but cant do much bad either i guess.

Your PS3 should boot without HDD to a error screen, you could try that I suppose.

It's probably easier to get a new one anyway :d

The FAT ps3 had that "error", it died literally, the slim ones dont happen that, buy a new one but dont forget to take the disc out of the old one dude...

No we have the big ass tank ps3, but it heats up fucking fast, and it stays hot 5 minutes after starting up

It doesn't give any errors, sometimes it will start up to the main menu and then shut down

Sounds like a CPU or Gpu error, one it finds the problem it just kills itself
