Mods / Even newer car colors are here!!

Quite a few people have asked for me to share my color palette update, so here it is.

It is the same deal as the last one.

Process:
1.  Download the .zip folder attached (not the .png file, that is just a reference of colors).
2.  Locate the file you just downloaded, double click on it, select open zipped folder.
3.  Inside you will see one file, carcols.DAT. Copy this file.
4.  Go into your GTA San Andreas game directory, now go into the data folder.
5.  Paste the file anywhere in your data folder. It will ask you if you want to replace the existing file, click yes.
6.  Go crazy with spray paint!

Some bits of advice: make a backup copy of the original carcols file in case you want to revert back to it later. Also you may want to print the attached reference picture so you can look at the color id # (thanks RaceRX for the idea).

One annoying thing: in game when you do /col, the colors and their names displayed are server side, not client side. So this means you will not see your carcol colors/names. This is why you need to remember what number each color is and choose that number. A check to see if your updated carcols are working is to do /col and select color id # 92 and spray your vehicle. If it is bright pink, it worked! Enjoy!

I hope to see lots of my colors in game.

i did everything correct and still doesnt work
^video to show u how i did it
try to just open the downloaded file as a zipped folder instead of using winrar. then copy and paste the carcols DAT file into the data folder instead of deleting the old one. Try replacing it in all the game directories you have. It sounds like the game is still finding the original file somehow.

But if people tell me the RGB id of the color they want, i can replace another color in the carcols file so they will get their color in the updated version. As far as the green boat goes, can you change the server carcols so the default color for the Tropic will use colorid 44 instead of 26? My 44 is close to the old 26. The only reason i replaced all the colors is so that the new colors would be in order (red, orange, yellow, blue...). And I checked the default colors for vehicles and they appear to be all used, so there really is no way around this unless we can change the default colors somehow...

Ok guys here is my updated carcols file. Put the file in your gta folder under data. Make sure to make a backup copy of the original carcols file before pasting the new one there. I only have colors 10 thru 49 working at the moment. Refer to the image above for a color id sheet. For some reason, when you are in game and type /spraycolor (#) it will not say what color it is, so just trust my color sheet above. I  like /spraycolor 0 22 combination with my new carcols file. I hope everyone on the server will start to use this so we can all see the updated colors. I may upload an updated file later if anyone has another color they want me to add for them.

Hey max could you look in your carcols file and tell me in RGB notation. For example [125,225,0]  for each color you listed. The carcols file that i have only goes up to color 126 so i cant see which colors you are talking about. Ill get it updated quickly if you could do that.

Hey guys I have been working on a new carcols file in hopes that the whole server could use this file. I know some people have updated their carcols files themselves to get new colors. If we all use this file, we can all see the same colors. I have replaced the colors from 10 to 49 with my own custom colors in order of a color wheel. These can be changed around a little if needed. Attached is my updated palette so far. Let me know if you have any custom colors you want me to add. Tell me by color id (ex; 149,23,57).

EDIT: attached below is the carcol zipped folder (dont get the jpg, thats just a preview for the new colors). Place the carcols.dat file in your gta folder under data. Make sure to make a backup copy of the original file also. Good luck.

Also attached is some preview screenshots of a few of the colors in case you want to see them before trying them. Hope you like it!

[EDIT AGAIN] there is a new carcols file that I just released...I suggest using the new ones, but you are free to use this old file if you wish.
