I was just wondering if it would be possible to set up the Submission Button for thieves and Securicars.  When a thief gets close to a securicar, he has to hit his submission button indicating his intent to jack the Securicar.  At that point, other thieves can't get involved as the securicar is already being jacked.  Just like for fines, once one cop fines the player, another cop can't fine them.  It would be just between the two of them.  In addition, the thief at that point could be listed as wanted, or wanted after 30 seconds or so.  That would eliminate the gang rush on Securicars and give some limited protection to them as well.

Just a thought.

General Talk / Posting Bail.
January 17, 2012, 04:07
The bail situation is crap.  You chase a guy all over the map, jail him for 16 minutes, and he has stolen another car before you can even fix your vehicle.  That is just a joke.  Why even jail them.  Just increase the fines when they are arrested and let them go.  Every arrest tonight has bailed and been out in the next chat line.  Jail serves no purpose now.

General Talk / Justice System
December 18, 2011, 20:38

I posted a player report showing multiple videos of a player driving around in a non-police vehicle. I posted chat logs showing that there were no suspects online during an even larger time frame. The rules for police state that we must ticket players with fines, weigh vehicles and arrest wanted suspects. While in a NON-police vehicle, you can only Arrest wanted suspects and fine players that are stationary. If you ignore suspects that need to be weighed, or if you ignore suspects that have fines and don't stop in front of you, you are not doing your duty.

HOWEVER that is now not the case. Proof of a player's entire evening while driving his non-police vehicle must be provided. It does not matter that he cannot do his complete job. To get fair treatment and justice, you must follow and record a player the entire evening thus not doing your job in order to report. SO, precedence has been set.

"I need full proof (whole time span of video) otherwise I can't tell if the player fined between the clips.

No action taken, but if you have the full proof feel free to post this again."

Fined? He can't unless they stop. What about suspects that drive by and don't stop for him ticket them?  What about weighing suspects. I guess not being a regular cop has its perks.

The law is what ever the judge says it is that day.  BUT, that justice must be consistant from now on.

General Talk / Warning Vs. Ban
December 03, 2011, 18:57

I see a major problem with punishments within the Report Player area. There is no consistency from one admin to another, or for that matter even one admin from one case to the other.

Punishment: has been banned 3 days ramming with intent

http://www.forum.convoytrucking.net/index.php/topic,15136.0.html

Punishment: Warning issued to Bounce: ramming

It is the same exact violation. The only difference is one vehicle flipped. I have seen this time and again. This happened last night:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Hd9v64v6XXI

I was pulling over BonDs to weigh him and issue a ticket, when DriftingMaster intentionally swerved into me and rammed my vehicle from behind destroying it and almost killing me. You can see we were pulled to the side of the road and that he intentionally turned into my vehicle.

HERE is the outcome of this violation:  Warning issued to DriftingMaster: ramming

Rule two of the Server Rules states, "Do not ram or attempt to steal other players' vehicles . . . " And if a person consciously decides to violate that well known rule, at the bottom it states clearly that, "Anyone breaking the above rules may be subject to a temporary or permanent ban."

Accidents happen due to lag issues etc. But when a player makes a conscious decision and deliberate attempt to ram into another player, action needs to be taken not only to punish the offender, but also to send a message to all other players that this is un-acceptable. There are many examples of the slap on the wrist "Warning issued" listed for Intentional Ramming. And as everyone can see, nobody takes that punishment seriously. This is serious.

This is a game, yes. But it is a game for every ones enjoyment. Rules were put in place with punishments for different violations and it has been my experience the banning one player and warning another is getting out of hand. If this type of play is to be discouraged, real consistent punishment needs to be enforced by ALL admins.

Additionally:  I see on another post that the issue at hand isn't IF the player violated the Server Rules by insulting another player, but how OFTEN he insulted him.

General Talk / Police Duty Clarification
August 27, 2011, 20:02

In obtained my Police Badge here a few days ago. Since then, I have been told by "Admins" of certain errors in my performance. Upon checking, I found that they might be the ones in error.

1. Police Idling - I was parked along the road observing traffic and writing tickets, doing weight checks and such along with another Motor Officer. We were both kicked for idling while doing our jobs.

Police rules:
1) Police must obey all server rules excluding ramming when they are dealing with a suspect. They can ram suspect vehicle/trailer but must not ram or block any other players/vehicles
2) Police must not abuse their rights. They must do their job or reclass to another class. No joyriding or racing as a cop to avoid fines is allowed and will lead to police badge being revoked. Also idling as a cop is not allowed.

http://www.forum.convoytrucking.net/index.php/topic,5288.0.html

"Camping police sits by the road or unloading point, waiting for players. If a player passes, he will be fined/arrested/weighted by the said cop.
Idling police is someone who walks away from the computer, ALT-TABs or simply doesn't sustain any activity in-game and doesn't react to wanted players running free in server."

We were camping, not idling which is allowed from what I read here.

2. Citations - I have been issuing citations, waiting until they are paid withing the 60 seconds and then leaving. I was told by an admin last night that I was to cite, and leave. I have found nothing that says that I am to leave a person who has NOT paid their fines as soon as I have cited them. And that makes no sense.

http://www.forum.convoytrucking.net/index.php?topic=13.0

"Collecting fines:Players who have speeding tickets will be displayed on your minimap as orange markers. In order to collect money, you need to drive up to player with a police car or police bike and press your submission key (default 2). If player doesn't /pay his fines in 60 seconds, he will become a suspect. You must not ram or block player even if he refuses to pay ticket. If player is AFK, he won't become wanted until he comes back."

To me, this means, cite, collect fines and leave.

3. Ramming - I hear this all the time and see it. "Stupid cop rammed me." What I see and experience most often is this. We cite a trucker who instead of pulling over and stopping when being advised he has tickets will keep hauling arss and then suddenly locks his brakes up stopping in just a few feet. The police cruiser/bike that CAN NOT stop in that short a distance slams into the rear end of the truck. Also, in some instances there is some lag involved. In order for police to activate the (submission key) they need to be fairly close to the person they intent so cite/weigh. So if we come up behind you and you hit the brakes and we slam into the back of the truck, give us a break. Not all ramming is intentional, most likely it is a combination of speed and game dynamics.

4. Wrong Way Tickets - This is really annoying. If a police officer is performing his duties, why do they get tickets for driving on the wrong side while truckers don't?

5. Baiting of Police - This happens all too often. People with cars that are clearly much faster than Police cars, baiting officers into pursuits. Is it legal? Yes. Is it really all that fair? Well, that is a matter of opinion. Police don't have interceptors. All they have is the Maverick. But all the Maverick can do is arrest. It can't cite.

The problem is that if I don't attempt to pursue the suspect I am not doing my job. My solution thus far is to pursue until it is clearly a baiting job, then discontinue the pursuit. If I can't catch you, there is no need for me to race all over the map with no chance of catching up to you, let alone arresting you.

6. Killing yourself to avoid capture - This has become a real sore spot for me. You chase a suspect around the map. You match him move for move and when it is clear that he isn't going to get away, he drives into a gas pump killing himself. It is my opinion that if that occurs, then capture has been achieved and the pursuing officer should get the fines and capture fee. And the next time the person logs in, they should be required to serve their time.
Thank you for the help in understanding this.
