maybe admins want to tell something about the next update.  a date would be nice not something new is comming soon. also to know wich things will be added or changed would be nice :D

I mean, if you look at a lot of games today, there is at least a plan of what is to definitely come, soon or not. There may not be dates, but they do at least have a speculation.

I don't know why this is the case personally... I feel like we should be somewhat transparent about we are working on and the progress of our work, with a reasonable estimation of the time it will take to finish the work (note: not time to production, testing is involved).

"Something is coming" may as well not have been said until the actual update comes out.

yes but i dont need to wati for fucking update more than 2 years  i play games where i get updates once a week i see no reason to stay on this server anymore lol and ppl that thinks this server will be something that was like 3-4 years ago dont dream too damn much

you dont need to say everything you have planed. but some informations would be good to know as it gets boring when you have no clue if something will come. maybe you can say if youre working on a script atm or if you test that script already.

you guys could give some time limit, like in 2 month, half year, year. People will get boored if you say something is coming and it comes after year.. Give people reason to play. Ps. If you say like 2 months, and after two months you realise it will take longer, just say its delayed.

Well if you say whatever is coming, then keep delaying it because theres bugs, people will complain that it was said that X is coming out on X date and it still isnt after 2 months delay, but then you release it cause people are complaining about how long its taking, but THEN people start complaining about how its super buggy and it was released too soon and devs should have done proper testing with it before releasing it.

You have to understand that no matter what the devs/scripters/mappers do, people will always complain about something

Yeah but by just saying "Something is comming" isnt helping either. Tell us something about the new update, So we can wait. A little something wont hurt. I hope after waiting for so long we wont get roadworks or bug fixes as the 'New update'.

what is with the hosted tab thing?   Whats the price per month for it?  maybe we can get some players so everyone of them only pays a small part for it. That would help to bring new players :D

As far as I know the only way to get on the hosted tab is to pay for it AND have your server hosted by them, and if I remember correctly that's a step Mick(?) didn't want to take.

I wouldn't trust them a gamemode which has been in developing the last 5 years and took alot of effort from mick and others to make it. You never know.

thats always a possibility, look at Alcatraz for example. Of course, then again, its always up to Mick to put it in but who really knows what hes doing or where he even is.

I'd like to throw it out there that inactivity / inability to fulfil his role generally means he is unfit for the role due to time constraints. Perhaps he needs a break so he can focus on real life?

He cannot add missions. He´s a mapper, not a scripter. Missions are not our job. We take care of maps, not scripts.

You just copy-paste a string of text, replace some coordinates and IDs and give the load/unload point a name. That's a 10 seconds thing (exaggeration of course but it's a very basic thing, there's no rocket science. You just copy and paste things)

What happens here has absolutely nothing to do with lack of time or scripting being too hard. We all know what the real problem is but choose to ignore it or hide behind a wall.

Time is an issue and you use that as an excuse for not updating shit for years? RESIGN!!!

I heard that scripters have done good job and plenty of updates ready to be uploaded on server, but those have been waiting now 4 months just to be uploaded?
People have been waiting new updates half year and they are just collecting dust somewhere? So now im asking will those be added someday, or are we waiting for nothing?

How about you learn how to program, learn how to script in PAWN for SA-MP gamemodes, and then try doing it yourself? It's not easy, but it's exactly what Carl is doing and I don't see anyone else trying to do it.

If anything, you should be thanking the guy.


From my point of view, I think everyone doesn't understand how tedious it is to implement new mission types. Scripters can't just put some code into the gamemode and make it work, it needs to be (somewhat) planned out, designed, implemented and then tested fully.

No one wants new mission types if they cause the server to crash randomly...

New missions however is something which can be done fairly easily (load points are in database), however the process of actually getting them live on server is tedious since someone needs to provide Mick with SQL files, which admins cannot write. Maybe that should be changed.


edit: the next part that Carl will have to overcome is understanding and somehow writing code for the gamemode. Actually being able to understand how the gamemode all comes together is a skill in itself (bearing in mind, it's like 35-40k lines of messy code due to no organizational concepts like classes). It's not impossible... but for a new / inexperienced scripter, big updates are out-of-reach.

So, I finally managed to upload the video. This is what I was talking about.
Joshy thought of this thing so the credit goes to him, I just scripted what he thought about.
We used AttachVehicleToObject to attach objects on the top of the packer (don't mind it floating in air, i need to fix the offsets), so now this way we can have actually have packer missions in a more realistic way. We can even set Material of Object that we're using by this we can make it look like you're hauling cars by using the burnt out car object.

Here's the video of how it'll actually look like.


Also ignore the chat, it was just an test to check if does it even work(?)

SAMP doesn't support AttachVehicleToVehicle, so we can't actually park / attach Vortex on the top of Packer. It'll fall off somehow.

I know, that's because it doesn't use CT's mission scripts xD, It's my own gamemode. The script has been improved ever since, like it destroys the objects once the mission is over and reassigns the objects to vehicle which claims it thereafter.
Edit: For some reason i can't destroy the objects, maybe I'm going wrong somewhere...

Actually no, he told me to work more on my own script so that i can learn more.

Just focus on Carl rather than the negative one or the people hiding updates being a veil, that's fantastic what he has done right there and now i know what's coming i can look out for it. I realise that's not nearly completed, but it's nice to know things are being worked on all the time and we can see evidence of that here.

You didn't get it, the problem is you have to give them the server files, insecure as shit.


Just letting you know that nothing would need to be changed to get on the hosted tab. Whoever is providing the hosted tab just needs to know the servers ip and port. Nothing has to be done with files and it is not insecure.

Yes, because SAMP supports AttachObjectToVehicle while it doesnt support AttachVehicleToVehicle. If you want cars, we can use the destroyed car object and use SetObjectMaterial to set a different material to make it look like its a incomplete car / chassis.

Can anyone tell me the model id of wrecked/destroyed cars?

Also it'd be a lot better if people would stop moaning about scripters not doing anything, this pisses them and make them loose their motivation to work on new features. Instead suggest more things and eventually they'll be implemented :)

Also I meant that id 3593 and 3594 might fall of as you can move them by ramming it.

Fire truck missions since I think you can use parts of the tow truck script. Do /w, a car that's on fire will spawn in a random place on the map, kill the fire, the end. I'll sure love to drive that stupid firetruck with a reason.

I didn't say it wasn't possible, back then i didn't have a way to detect if the fire was turned off as it was a particle. Now i got some new ideas, and i will continue them when i finish the actual script i am making.

I won't work on firetruck missions as they're already been worked upon.
The major problem with firetruck missions was that there was no possible way to detect if the fire was put out, but now by using GetPlayerFacingAngle and some other stuff like OnPlayerKeyStateChange, we can trace if the player is near the object and is he pressing Fire key.
I can't say much more as I don't know if I should be revealing something I shouldn't.

That was just a test script just to see if it works, we'll be using more realistic things like wrecked cars, logs, pipes and some other stuff

Since you're already using actors, how about you apply an animation (pushing the chest, if it's there?) on player when he enters the checkpoint on foot, would be more realistic this way, then you can destroy the actor using timer and stop the animation and drive back to the hospital  :like:

I've got more ideas about this like going into people's backyard and fixing some house stuff, but for now you can fix Street Light and Water Pump / Hose (whatever it is called). The script still needs few tweaks inorder to work more efficiently.

If I could have a CT wish granted, it would be to have "mini-missions" added. It would not count towards any kind of achievement.. Then again
I'd also wish for my Alcatraz add-on to be added..I could go on and on about my CT wishlist..

you can script Carl, give yourself more credit than that....those are suggestions, some that we've been waiting for, for some time now.... and my Alcatraz add-on wont take anything but moving A and B back and fourth.. Its quite possibly simplier than a gate movement.

I got the map files, I learned how to add missions, areas and whatnot (I learned it own my on). I'll work on your Alcatraz add-on, however I can't say if it'll be added or not as its totally upon mick, just waiting for my laptop to get fixed.
Can you tell me what exactly you want in your Alcatraz addon beside missions?

We can't give you a exact date when the updates are coming as some unforeseen bugs might arrive anytime. I don't think ETA might work as updates have to confirmed by mick to be on the server, it's quite possible we tell you that we're working on x update but mick feels its not needed so the update never comes on the server.

Who is the sites host? I have noticed the downtime happens alot. just wondering have hosted a few sites myself on different hosts.

This thread is funny.... because even opensource software tells me some of the stuff they are working on. I really wish you would at least give us hints or clues and not just its coming. keeping it hidden I am starting to wonder if there even is an update coming o.O All i see is maybe 1 hint.
