It's not a rule, but to be honest it should be, if you're any decent you're able to mask an attachment and just share a virus.
It's general knowledge to use imgur tho.
Never mentioned anything about it being a rule, more of a request/recommendation..But it helps because when I click on forum attached pictures, it automatically downloads the pic to my desktop, which is rather annoying to me. (I think its my chrome settings)

It's your Chrome settings, for me it doesn't download anything.

click the actual picture, not where it links 'galleryXXX.jpg'
clicking image on chrome for me opens in new window, clicking on link downloads it.

Use the Opera browser because chrome is discharged why I became rare that you would bother, if the low resolution it is understood, but the resolution is high enough to equal the next configuration makes it Imgur album.
