- bugfix: engine brake only worked if you enabled airbrake
- bugfix: engine brake volume was the same as airbrake volume
- bugfix: engine brake sound doesn't stopped when you hold down brake, and engine brake even played when the truck stopped and started to going in reverse.
- NEW FEATURE: smoke when engine starts up (suggested by abeceda)

changes:
- renamed global variables
- CLEO 4.0 included to fix jakebrake sound problem

changes:
- code optimalization -> smaller script file size
- package contains required cleo plugins

changes:
- airbreak, jakebreak sounds (volume can be changed, also with "0.0" it can be disabled)
- you can set less smoke when going forward
- you can specify on what vehicles you want to run the script

- both script rewritten, completely new structure, now they should use much more less resources.
- less smoke comes in reverse

diesel_smoke.cs features:
- black smoke on accelerating from diesel vehicles
- smoke only comes if truck stopped or truck going slowly (configurable maxspeed in diesel_smoke.ini file)
- you can specify excluded vehicle models in diesel_smoke.ini file (for example if you want smoke on Roadtrain but not on Petrol Tanker truck, then you can exclude Petrol Tanker truck model and then it won't ommit black smoke. Handy if you have some modern truck mod and you don't want black smoke on it.)
- You can specify the particle effect to be used as diesel smoke in diesel_smoke.ini file.
- Smoke (but not that much as going forward) when reversing (can be disabled in diesel_smoke.ini file)
- Airbreak, Jakebreak sounds, you can specify volumes
- you can set more or less smoke
- you can set on which vehicles you want to run the script

bad_engine.cs features:
- cars ommiting black smoke on accelerating when they conditions are below of the specified value (configurable in bad_engine.ini)
- You can specify the particle effect to be used as diesel smoke in bad_engine.ini file.

The two script works without eachother, so if you don't like one of them, you can just delete it.

Requires CLEO 4.0, on newer versions, audio (and maybe other things) will fail.

Requires these CLEO(4) plugins:
- IniFiles.cleo
- IntOperations.cleo (I'm not sure)
- newOpcodes.cleo (also plugin.dll in root gtasa folder)

(These CLEO plugins are should be there by default.)

The effect.fxp and effectPC.txd files are from "active dashboard", but effect.fxp is modified by me, to make the diesel smoke more real, also made some other effects better then it was (reduced/removed crazy-high values for some particles).

Successfully made these things too. I had to make actual gear checking too to make reverse smoke too. Also I completely rewrited the whole thing, removed/optimized some code while maintain the same function. :P
Also modified the effects.fxp file, made the sparks more realistic (they were too big), also tweaked the car explosion.

edit: Upload soon, just need testing.

Btw I'm thinking to make all car to exhaust black smoke when they're in bad condition.
And I have an idea for a script which could add controlable siren lights to even default original gta sa vehicles without model file editing :P

you are geting into the cleo stuff, witch i like so i have an idea. can you make a mod that when you slow down or let off the accelerator you have the sound of a jake breakbrake. that would be so bad ass. 8) 8)

Btw I'll make the diesel smoke particle configurable, so you'll be able to specify any particle effect as diesel smoke. So for example you'll be able to set flames as diesel smoke if you want :D Or you can create your own particle in effects.fxp and use that.

Well I don't have any knowledge how to work with sounds in cleo, so maybe later when I'll know how to do it :D

Update 2014.07.30

ZIP now contains two script:
- black exhaust smoke for diesel trucks (diesel_smoke.cs)
- black exhaust smoke for damaged cars (bad_engine.cs)

If you want just one of them, then you can just delete the other one. So they work seperately.

diesel_smoke.cs:
- it checks holding keys, also built in whole new checking mechanism for keypresses.
- it checks if vehicle is dead (example: if vehicle in water, and engine broken, then smoke won't come)
- smoke only comes if truck stopped or truck going slowly (configurable maxspeed in diesel_smoke.ini file)
- it works based ONLY on the truck speed
- you can specify excluded vehicle models in diesel_smoke.ini file (for example if you want smoke on Roadtrain but not on Petrol Tanker truck, then you can exclude Petrol Tanker truck model and then it won't ommit black smoke. Handy if you have some modern truck mod and you don't want black smoke on it.)
- NEW (2014.07.30) You can specify the particle effect to be used as diesel smoke in diesel_smoke.ini file.

Thanks, I just completely redone the dieselsmoke script. I made checkings to run only when needed.

just one example, so there are many things like this: now the script checks the current vehicle's exhaust number only when player get in the vehicle. Before, this has been checked in every 1/10second when player pressed accelerator lol

I'll rewrite the bad_engine script to this new logical structure too.

Also I changed diesel smoke further: now there are much less smoke when you reverse. :)

I'll release the update after some more testing.

I'm using overdose effect 1.4, where I have to replace effects.fxp and effectsPC.txd files and your Black Smoke mod ask for that too... If I put your files i wont be able to use overdose effect. So any solution?

into the file end, BEFORE the "FX_PROJECT_DATA_END:" (and leave a blank line between the pasted code and the "FX_PROJECT_DATA_END:")

Step 2: open the effectsPC.txd from my pack with txd editor application (I use TXD workshop), export the "diesel_exh" image as tga. Then import it into your effectsPC.txd and make sure you set it up with alpha called "diesel_exha" and with DXT3 compression. Then save your effectsPC.txd. And your done.

PS: this method applies too if you want to use the original effects.fxp and effectsPC.txd files. I'll pack original effect files with diesel_exh on next update.

Yeah, 3d sound (which attached to an object or car or something in the game world) is not work in samp, but simple sound works nicely. I tested, works nicely on CT server :P

Maybe later, I'll need to think about how to implement that into the script. Because it's a more complex thing than the airbreak sounds. Also I already used up all the 0-33 local variables available for one script. I'll need to look into how to make more variables.

Airbrake sound is not a seperate script, I built it into the diesel smoke script. The sound can be disabled via ini file, also the volume of the airbreak sound can be changed in the ini file.

u can try the jake brake sound from 18 wheels pedal to the metal, or just google a jake brake mod for haulin

thanks, implemented this (trimmed and littlebit tweaked the volumes), also the airbrake script now selects and plays randomly from 3 different sound on every brake release, and selects randomly from 2 different sound on every starting the vehicle from stopped state.

I noticed a tiny barely noticable sound popping when the engine break sound starts to play or stops. The airbreak sound are ok. I don't know if this because the sound itself, or maybe my audio driver sucks :D

edit: with other sound applied to engine break, no speaker pop occurs. Any idea how to fix an mp3 to make it "pop-less" on stop and play?  ???

I made many modifications into the code, the smoke itself can be disabled now, and you can leave only the sound effects on. So maybe I'll need to rename the script to something else now :D

Also made some bug fixes, and replaced the jakebreak sound with another. (All sound will be replaceble easily for own taste, because they just simple mp3's)

Will be configurable in ini file:
- max speed where smoke comes / disable
- reverse smoke on / off
- air break sound volume / disable
- jakebreak sound volume / disable
- smoke particle effect name
- excluded vehicles (within diesel vehicles)

I want to make some more testing and then I'll release it :)

Btw extra door opener script in works too, and it's already opening the rear sleeper cabin door on my (modified) cabover petro truck :P (it will work liek this: you'll just walk next to the vehicle, press a button and the extra door - defined "extra_door" component in model - will open/close animated) This will just for fun. :P
Of course I'll make my trucks sleeper cabin doors compatible with this.

And you can suggest things to add... for example: electric windows or something... Tell me what would you like :P

You mean another axle? I think there is already a script for that somewhere (and I have no idea how to copy the behavior of an axle, it would require memory address things, and I have no knowledge in those, I just started to script a few days ago). I tried to make lights on the roof but got some problems...
So now I waiting for suggestions to manipulate car components. I basically finished the door script, it can handle a left and a right extra door.

Mowing windshield wipers? :) It can be support-script for your vehicle mods.

For electric windows, i suggest you made it like this (or its just a my idea):
press P AND 1 to roll up/down driver's window, P and 2 together for passanger's window, P and 3 together for rear left/cabin window, P and 4 for rear right.
And it will be cool if we can open windows incrementally, like pressing P+1 few times to completely roll down window.

About the black diesel smoke script itself, I just got two ideas.
If I hold W (accelerator pedal) and truck speed decreases (which is not caused by me holding handbrake), no matter at which speed I'm driving - little amount black smoke coming out (like for reversing).

I dont know if its possible (i just used SannyBuilder twice for little editing, never made big things like you do - seems that your skills are great in that), but as you said that script works only on speed and accelerating, is it possible that we see smoke for other players too? Like this: loop check through vehicles and if vehicle are accelerating within Max_Speed, black smoke coming out. If vehicle reversing, less amount of black smoke coming out.

Thanks, I want to test it to make sure there is no any memory leak or crashing, or anything like this... But just a few days, I'll release the diesel smoke and sounds script first, the door opening script needs more testing (and maybe I'll make some other things for that) because I just made that today. Also that requires my trucks to be adopted (like the cabover petro on the video modified to that script). Also I'll write a little tutorial, how to make a vehicle capable of that door script.

higher number = slower animation

I found some problem with my diesel script, it applies airbreak sound and diesel smoke for cars like rumpo, burrito, and others... also the exclude list function works (basically unusable) strangely. I'll need to fix it but in this moment I can't even understand what the hell happening there.

edit: I see what is the problem with the exclude list. The other thing will be fixed by changing the script to only apply for 4-5 vehicle models. (Now it works by vehicle class checking, this will be changed)

edit2: the exclude list array makes so unreal things, I can't follow the logic lol

I did a ~2hour CT game testing, I'll do another and then I'll release it. I want to test out everything (for example to see if CT server's engine on/off feature makes any issue. And anything that can be a problem.)

Unfortunately this mod is not working for me. It works a little bit in single player but In multi  playing mode it does not work at all.   In single player the Jake brake works for the first time I hit the brake. After that it doesn't work unless I get out of the car and get back in the car then it works again. It does not work on multyplayer mode at all and I've used all the files that you have provided.

Others said too that jakebrake only works for first time... but others have working smoke and airbrake. Btw jakebrake is not when you press brake, but when you release gas/accelerator. I even made tests about this jakebrake problem, somehow the sound getting stopped for someone and getting paused to others when the command is "stop". I'll try to use another command or something to fix this.

I even tried to modify the script itself to make it work for everyone, but while it's working for me perfectly with various methods from the begining, some other people have these strange illogical audio kind problems...

The only last thing I can think is the different CLEOs. I'll check mine, to see it's exact size and version... Or maybe I'll just upload all my CLEO related files and you can try it.... I'm on another pc now, tomorrow I upload them. If that will not help, then sorry I can't do anything, cleo's audio commands somehow works differently on different PCs.

I have no idea what version I have, I can't find version anywhere, but then it looks like I have 4.0 too. The only thing I can see is, my cleo.asi is 146kb.


edit: just tested, using 4.3 breaks jakebrake sound. So I'll update the package with CLEO 4.0 included.

- bugfix: engine brake only worked if you enabled airbrake
- bugfix: engine brake volume was the same as airbrake volume
- bugfix: engine brake sound doesn't stopped when you hold down brake, and engine brake even played when the truck stopped and started to going in reverse.
- new feature: smoke when engine starts up (suggested by abeceda)

It's done but I want to make sure I didn't messed up something else.

- using loops for smaller script size

Any ideas for new features or something? What would you like? :) I don't know what I can do, I just waiting for some ideas, if there's any :P
U work is Amazing i really like it, but i would like to suggest that truck could be more glittering :)
And also i used this mod just week ago, everytime i do /reclass and/restoreall my game crashed...
so im glad you are going to make some changes:) and hope these suggestions can help u.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm using the latest version of your mod (going to check out tomorrow) but my game crashes every time I restore my truck and trailer and also when I use kill or reclass near my rig.

Also, how exactly do I use the air brake, engine brake and stuff?

I'm using this script since i made it and never had any crashing related to /reclass, /kill or /rm. Make sure you use the latest script and also make sure you have hoodlum gta_sa.exe, also try to use these files: http://speedy.sh/JNrtS/mycleo.zip (http://speedy.sh/JNrtS/mycleo.zip) (make backup first)

still the same problem, I just get a massive number of opcodes whenever I'm restoring the rig or sitting near it when /kill or /reclass....and the game dies. I'll add this mods on a clean install later this day, hopefully it will fix the problem.

PS - the problem occurs only on this server btw

sound bugged if you use newer cleo versions (or atleast for me, thsi is why I use older one)

if you use it offline then sound works?

The sounds work fine in SP and I'm using Cleo 4.0 so I'm not sure why its not working.

maybe you using a different "type" gta_sa.exe? I know it sounds stupid but it can change many things...

I'm using your exe because I use a custom timecyc & vehicle txd. I'll try it again, its probably something I've missed out.

EDIT: Ok it works in SP and SAMP Debug, but not actually in SAMP :/ the fuck is going on lol.

I'll test to see if sound works for me on CT server, it worked before... I don't know, maybe some update on the server blocked it (?) Anyway, I'll test it and report back.

Same things happened on me, and i tried all the way to fix it. But cant fix the crash yet.
