Title: [UPDATE 2014.08.01]My graphics related mods I use (nyolc8)

Update: fixed a folder placement which caused game crashing (thanks abeceda for the report). I just put the folder to wrong place when I made the package... :-[ Now it should work without crashing.

These are the files that I use for my graphics:

IVF NOT included.

INFO:
These are NOT made by me, I just use them, modified them for my taste.

- ENB setting is partly made by me (don't know where I downloaded the original from, sorry)
- all mods configured for my taste
- far light coronas are there for WC and for MC too.

What changes:
- sunflare
- lights reflection on ground
- enb shadows,reflection on cars
- far draw distance
- grass, vegetation in samp (with samp_fix)
- better smoke effect, smoke stays much more longer
- lights to various objects
- far light coronas
- NEW: black smoke for about a second on accelerating on diesel vehicles
- etc...

Install:

1. Make backup from these files:
- gtasa.exe
- /models/effectsPC.txd
- /models/effects.fxp
- vorbisFile.dll
- vorbishooked.dll

2. Copy the "to_gtasa_folder" content into your gtasa game folder.

3. Import dff files from "dff_into_gta3.img" folder to your gta3.img with "Alci IMG editor". (these dff files adding light coronas for bridges - blue lights to SF bridge and in WC - and stuff)

4. start up samp_fix, then start samp and play the game, press F12 while in game to enable vegetation and sun. (you can configure what you want, in samp_fix)

I tried running San Andreas with these installed, but it wont load further than ~40%, it loads all fine and when it almost reaches the middle it'll just stop responding.
Any idea what causes this? As I can't really google the problem because I don't know the original mods. :p

I modified "Diesel V2 (http://www.gamemodding.net/en/gta-san-andreas/gta-sa-cleo-scripts/17316-dizel-v-20.html)" CLEO script (my first CLEO scripting experience :D) and effects.fxp to get a nice black smoke everytime you press accelerate in diesel trucks. The original CLEO script used the riot smoke which was strange for me, also it worked only after you totally stopped the truck. This one ommits smoke on accelerate even if the truck moving.

I see you have holes in SF from that distance. If you want, you can try increase the "lods_draw_distance_multiplier" in IDE_DD_Tweaker.ini to fix that

Edit: The problem is in gta.3.img. I tried with a non modified gta3.img and it worked fine.

PS: Nyolc, add to the post "to make a backup of .dff files from gta3.img", I don't know if these are corrupted, game doesn't load.

I'll test to see if it is the .img file, thanks for replying either way. :p


Edit: Using an unmodified, 100% clean, gta3.img didn't work for me, thanks for the advice tho, maybe it'll fix it for someone else who has the problem.
I'll be playing without the graphic enhancements I guess, I'm too lazy to download and modify my own. :beinghonest:  :trainsguy:

is there a way to make the smoke come out when ever the accelerator is pushed, I mean if the accelerator is pushed the smoke will come out. (all the time) Like real trucks do!

Love the mods used.. Just too lazy to install them, and my GTA is amazing already.. Don't wanna risk breaking it like I do every other month

I did it like that first, but it looked like an old locomotive lol. Also I think a normal truck doesn't make this smoke all the time. I mean, I never saw trucks with huge smoke when they're just going on a highway.

That's on video because it's not normal... lol That is tuned or something... :D

BUT I improved the CLEO script, now it ommits black smoke for about 2 second max, but stops earlier if you release the gas. So the script ommits smoke relatively how long you press the accelerate. I'll try to make the max time configurable somehow. But 2sec looks realistic. I'll upload it, just testing it. :)

edit: there will be an ini file and you'll be able to set max seconds for smoking.

The CLEO script is done with it's own configuration ini file, just trying to refine the smoke effect in effect.fxp file. :P

Don't worry I changed that as well, the effects.fxp file has an own diesel smoke particle, and this script uses that. :P

Lol make some very bad mod choices which leads to me not being able to run the game without crashes, etc... And I always forget to backup, except gta3.img my img editor has an option to replace with extraction.

so copy your entire SA folder, and paste it into a new folder called something like SA mod test, that way you have a second one to test shit on before you would use your main and possibly fuq that up.. the way I do it..

So here's the smoke script I made, based on cleo script called "Diesel V2". If you tried that before, you'll see how much improvement is this. :)

What new things I added/changed (almost everything lol):
- it now works based on truck speed
- it now checks holding keys, also built in whole new checking mechanism for keypresses.
- it checks if vehicle is dead (example: if vehicle in water, and engine broken, then smoke won't come)
- smoke comes for a few sec max (configurable in diesel_smoke.ini file)
- smoke only comes if truck stopped or truck going slowly (configurable in diesel_smoke.ini file)
- configurable with diesel_smoke.ini file (max speed and max time for smoke)

Requires these CLEO(4) plugins:
- IniFiles.cleo
- IntOperations.cleo (I'm not sure)

But these CLEO plugins are there by default.

The effect.fxp and effectPC.txd files are from "active dashboard", but effect.fxp is modified by me, to make the diesel smoke more real, also made some other effects better then it was (reduced/removed crazy-high values for some particles).

I only have one question: can you somehow change the effect to where the smoke and stuff lasts like 5 sec instead of being there after youve left??  I have something like that and its annoying.. or you could simply tell me which file its under , how to open it and where to edit..

I don't fully understand, you mean you want the smoke to dissappear faster? Then you need to edit effect.fxp. Open that file, then find "diesel_exh" section, and under that find "FX_INFO_EMLIFE_DATA", and under that, find "VAL: 2.200". Change that value for smaller. 2.200 means 2,2 seconds. That means when a smoke texture comes, that texture starts to fade out after 2,2 seconds. So just play with this value to see what is good for you :)

edit: I just see you mean all the effects. The "FX_INFO_EMLIFE_DATA" is in there for all particle type. So you can edit each particle lifetime.

I found it, tested it. fixed it.... by the way, for some reason I lag using your files on an alternative game..same stuff used on main except for your graphical stuff

It may lagg because of the high draw distance. It depends on computer specs.

Well that suck it dont work for me. CRASH my game on start up. i removed it and game work great. i dont unerstand why i cant use it.   :'( :'( :'(

do what I did and copy whatever folder your main game is, paste it into a new folder called Nyolc8's mods and then add everything from his link into that game, so if something does go wrong, you can still play because you have a backup.. mine works fine except for the lag, which is the draw disatnce which I need to figure out how to lower. either in settings or some ini file

Can you show/write all the files from your cleo folder here? Also do you using my edited gtasa.exe, or something other? You have CLEO 3 or 4?

I have CLEO 4, I also have memory2048.cs in folder thats it. nothing else. I removed the mod and game work fine. But as soon as i put it in my cleo folder it will not load game.

1 more thing your gtasa.exe dose not work for me either.

Nothing else? That's the problem then. This script uses IniFiles.cleo plugin which should be in cleo folder too. (It's there for me by default, I thought it's there for everyone.)

If you use my gtasa.exe, then you need to copy the VEH2TXD file too, because my modified exe reads that file. So if you don't copy that, then it will crash. Also with my exe, timecyc file need to be timecyc.txt (instead of timecyc.dat or timecyc.aaa) to get the game work. I modified it to txt to be able to modify timecyc more easely.

I have the exact same mod files and I dont get near that far of draw distance.. Ill have to check my display settings first..  and yes, the smoke mod is exactly what I was looking for, itd go great with my sound mod if spazz would ever help me with em

@Nyolc8- is there a way to lower the draw distance itself within an ini or timecyc file?

Yes:
open "sa_draw_distance_changer.ini" and change the "y=3800.0" value lower. You can see there, I save the original value (2800.0)
also if you make the draw distance lower, you can set "lods_new_draw_distance = 2000.0" and "tobjs_draw_distance_multiplier = 2.0" lower in "IDE_DD_Tweaker.ini"

If you still have lagg, then you can try to lower the far corona effect by modifing "CoronaFarClip = 8000.0" to lower in "2dfx.ini".

And if you still having lagg, you need to modify "timecyc.txt" and change all "2500" to lower.

I'm updating the diesel smoke script, now there is no time based smoke, it's now working only by speed, which means it smokes all the time if you accelerate under the specified speed. (for example now if you climbing a hill and pressing the gas, smoke comes out all the time while the truck crawling up slowly)
I think it looks more real by this. Testing it now. Uploading soon. :)

I do everything you said and when I copy and use gta_sa.exe from this pack - GTA stop responding in middle of loading multiplayer. I found why and what you do wrong:

You put VEHTXD2.txd in: "..\generic", but it must be in: ..\models\generic. Moved and everything works fine.

Timecyc is awesome! But with enb enabled, for me gta looks too dark.

btw it would be nice if you could make the smoke script so that smoke comes out when the truck shifts up a gear and maybe when its not moving but engine is turned on.

I did the smoke to come only when you start with the truck, or truck is below a specified speed. There is no truck which produces black smoke just by idling. (if yes, that is not normal lol)
Also gtasa gearbox works so unreal, it's not worth to make smoke for gearshifts.
