Title: Future of CT
Post by: RaceRX on November 14, 2015, 17:54
I'm typing this on an iPhone so it's gonna look a little weird so everyone chime in PLEASE.

Since the day this server launched it was the best damn server I had ever played. Great people, great script, all that. But the fire was lost. The owner moved on,(he should pass the torch if he can't keep it up), it's gone updateless for TWO months, what were we on the top rated servers like 50 at peak? Why did that change?! samp dying? Sure samp is losing its luster but it's not dead. There is 19553 players on RIGHT NOW on the internet tab on 197 of the servers advertised there. Two of my personal other favorite servers in which we used to be ahead of at all times have 250 players on one, and 120 on the other, and 15 on convoy.. Yes. Really. Not even on its slowest times was it that slow. And this is peak hour! It's a shame that the CT community has settled for loss. It CAN be revived! ADVERTISMENT! Re advertise on samp forums start there! Someone make some videos! Dig up some old videos and repost them those actually helped! Get us on atleast the Internet tab! How is anyone going to find us if we aren't even on the samp search engine?!? Got friends who may be interested in such a game? Ask them! Ask yourselves are you happy with how CT Has died?? Or would you like to see a spark again? Open your hearts to the new players instead of chasing them off like I so often see. You were new once too! I've found a decent amount of servers before ct that I quit because no one was social. Be social. Be helpful. Help the community.

Chime in below

You're right though, SA:MP isn't dead as there are still thousands upon thousands of players still playing this game at all times.

Advertising would help a lot though, that and updates to the gamemode itself. CT itself killed itself somehow though I'm not sure how. I know that when many of the veterans quit so did a lot of their friends and it just rolled down hill from there. I think some power hungry mods may have been a problem as well, way to strict.

A lot of vets though still come by and visit though, even if it's just to see what's going on and maybe they would come and play if there was something that caught their attention.

I like Dobby's post on old suggestions found here (http://www.forum.convoytrucking.net/index.php?topic=52870.0) but I'm not sure what is going on with that but it would be cool to see these brought to life.

I am still thinking about making videos for CT though, just need to find the time, maybe around Christmas since I'll have a few days off at least.

I might be absent for the time being but I know that I'll always come back and get back into helping rebuild this place.

I used to do videos to make the server known at Youtube, but then i got busy with university, you might remember that cops series, it was going good, but i stopped it, the trailers about new stuff, i might come back to it this summer, i dont have much time between university, life, moderating and then making videos.  :ccmas:

FYI, NPC's are counted towards the players online count last i checked. Could be wrong though.

I'm currently out of coding for the time being, i have nerve damage on my wrist and i don't fancy making it worse til its operated on.

This "veteran" word makes me cringe, its fucking awful, just say "old players".

3.0 has been added to @ the repo, so its not totally dead.

Does being bored of the server explain your inactivity and suddenly gaining it back at 60 days race?

Really I also have been in charge of giving publicity in small groups of 18 wos of my country and friends who play san, have other fanatics it will have to move to me more there are that with it because they have brought in not many, but if they have experienced a little the server some they have liked others they move back because not many there they likes to remain the truth seated in a truck doing deliveries others they like more the action  :dislike: :like:

First of all, fu RaceRX, I wanted to do something like this :P
Anyway, I agree with what most of you have said, I still believe CT can be alive once again.
Many of you would have noticed this by now that many of the old players have returned, so there's got to be a reason why they came back no ? It's because they still enjoy playing here.
SAMP won't die until people have shitty PCs, so it's not point screaming that SAMP is dying.

Even I think advertising CT would really help, and for god's sake don't go saying that advertising CT would attract noobs who like to hack, of course we're aware that it'd attract hackers too but that's why we've got staff no ?

Before something else I'd like to point out few things that I believe would help in keeping the server interesting.

For Mappers: I don't know what's wrong with some of you, you're like really really inactive plus I don't even see roadworks from some of you. It seems like Sjomp is the only one working on maps. I'm sorry if I'm wrong but still, same roadworks for months ? Atleast you should try to add new ones after a month. I'm pretty sure there are some people out there who would like to map for CT, so if you don't have the motivation/time then resign and let others take over.
I hope you won't go negative about it, it's something I've noticed for long. :)

For Scripters: Nothing much to say, since I believe they are working on something, so it's better to wait :D

That's all I've got to say for now :)

because there is nothing to change/add/edit Carl... yeah Sjomp is doing his desert thing.. HE is doing it, not any of us.. he decided to do ALL that by himself (which is a feat all in its own)

You are right, nothing gonna change unless you try it by yourself. Nowadays they only want new missions but we already have so many type of, i know its good to have new missions but its CONVOY TRUCKING.
It was created for trucking and convoying. I really miss the old days, which are not gonna come back. Its over unless people forget about new missions. You guys should suggest about improvements.
Advertising might help to bring more players to Convoy Trucking.

Detouring from the finger pointing game, really the best start would be advertising.

Oh, nice to see this place hasn't changed much, way to delete my reply, I don't see a reason why though. Can I not be entitled to my own personal opinion? "Chime in" It says on his post, am I not allowed to do so? This is exactly whats wrong, and what helped kill this server, power hungry moderators who do things for no valid reason.

yeah, best option is advertisements but the problem in this is tha.....players don't join the other servers why? just think about CT if someone came in ct and advertising about other servers will anyone of us go there ? no even they wont see what's the name of that server, WHO CARES, that's the point mostly ppl lovw their server lome we do with ct and they don't like other servers but yeah some ppl will come fot sure.

Just checked the SA:MP forum advertising rules for the 'server advertisements' section now that Y_Less has fucked off. Seems we can advertise once a month (if need be).

PM me some advertisement ideas and i'll see what i can do.

Any negativity (server being "dead", admin abuse etc) will all be removed and the offender forum warned/banned if you're a repeat offender. This is about fixing CT rather than whining about it being dead. Got nothing good to say, don't say it and the usual stuff.

Anyways, I'm seeing a few more older players coming back trying to get in game again or at least playing a little more. I will start doing the SAN News again if I get some more help, and thank you Carl at least for trying too. Combined with advertising on other places, like youtube, the other SA:MP forum and countless other places, it shouldn't be terrible hard.

If we advertise legally within websites related to the game, or gaming in general, at least once a month (some sites might allow more) than who knows how fast we can generate speed with bringing in players. And advertising doesn't have to involve the direct approach, it can be indirect as well.

My schedule is starting to come back together IRL so I can try find a spot for CT soon and put in more time for this place as I still love it and will be here till the last day, which I hope isn't any time soon.

P.S. Again, if anyone is interested in SAN News and such, leave a message at least on the club page under a new topic as I check it every day or so and others might too. Just let us know what you want to help with and we can help get you started!

Then also remove the bullshit about mappers and scripters being lazy. Same shit every topic, ends up with nothing.
Do something to shut us up then ? I'm not provoking you or something but if you're still going to continue with this attitude then you'll never be able to understand what we're trying to convey....

Saying you are not lazy but doing nothing to prove us wrong...
Maps are not the only thing that will bring CT ti "live" again. They can just help a bit.
I do hope that waht dobby said to me a month ago will happen, if not lying is not cool bro.

I am one of the old players here and i do want to play again.. but when i get on.. i get bored really fast.

I think that from this topic, we can say that there is ONE important and easy thing to start with asap, and that is to ADVERTISING :) Find all GTA SA pages, forums and stuff. Just random gaming forums in general as well.

And like it has been said, the server is not even possible to find on SA-MP without the adress? That's really sad. Me and hundreds of others would never have been here if we couldnt have found the server on the list on servers on SA-MP.

Convoy Trucking should be one of the first servers on the SA-MP server list :D

Just remember, if some of you are advertising please make sure you follow their forum/site rules as we don't need any bad publicity. It may also be better to ask admins before you advertise as well just in case others are advertising there. We don't want 10 people advertising CT on the same forum/site lol.

Or it may be best to leave the advertising to admins who have the time or work together so admins don't have to sign up to 30 different places just to advertise there once.

I would say put it back on internet tab in samp and make it a little easier for new players.
Like lower the 100 truckloads to 50 or 75? I think 100 truckloads is too much these days as there are houses enough.

By the time they get 100 tl they have 750~k which is enough for a house lowering it will just make them beg for money
