Title: Windows 7 installation issue
Post by: Dobby on August 17, 2013, 16:13
Well, i got Windows 7 in the mail. From Ebay.

Here's the issue. Im trying to install from CD, on an old IDE connected disk drive to a SATA powered HDD.

HDD has been formatted, and it's a clean install. However, it hang's at the "Select drivers to install" option. I've scanned my PC for "drivers" to install. It wont find any, and i can't progress past this point.

Any ideas? Should i download an ISO from the internet and use my CD key to activate it? burn to USB etc..

Does it force you to select drivers to install? or can you just ignore it and install them later?

Change SATA mode from RAID/IDE to ACHI in BIOS
Also try with unplugging all useless peripherals leaving you with only the essential (monitor, keyboard and mouse)

It more or less forces me. There's an unselectable "next" button. But i can't use it.

I'll try it again tomorrow with the suggestion. Many thanks :D
