Title: what can I run, what should I possibly upgrade
Post by: Ethan on August 17, 2013, 04:40
im not one of those people who plays those FPS or MMORPG games. I do however like some games and would simply like to know, based on what I have and currently upgraded too, could possibly play
motherboard:

I have upgrade my PSU to a 450w one:

upgrade the GPU:

and two more sticks of RAM for a total of 4:

question is, whaat processor can I upgrade to and boost performance, if, one day I did want to install something as demanding as, something liike BF4 or crysis, or something... Or is it not even worth it, save my money up and plan on spending $500 to get a list of parts to build my own and have those mentioned run at decent speeds..

and yes I knows its AMD and alot of people dont like it, but guess what I have it, and I would just like to know
if I cant play anything but crap, tell me please

You're going to want at least 8GB of RAM.
What processor do you have?

If you want a new CPU that will actually be worth it, you'll need a new motherboard too. So if you wanted to, you could switch to Intel. Intel is more expensive but I personally say Intel is better than AMD in performance. (I have AMD because it was cheaper).
If you went with Intel, get a quad core i5.
If AMD, there are a lot to choose from. This is what I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113286
Relatively cheap, 6 cores, 3.5GHz (4.1GHz turbo). This CPU will NOT work with your motherboard. It's a socket AM3+, your motherboard is AM2+.

Forum is being a dick

AM2+ socket is pretty old you might want to upgrade your motherboard then you be good for a long time until that get's outdate or you build a new pc.  But if you do upgrade your motherboard your going to need to get a cpu with am3+ socket.  Just filter socket types to am3+ then look at those.  That should be about $200, $100 for motherboard and $100 for cpu.

DDR2 memory is really expensive for some reason and outdated for playing newer games.  You also have to buy new ram for a new motherboard.

You would like also to upgrade your PSU, 450w is too less for current hardware specs, get a 500 or 700w one, anyways this also depends on the rig you going to build.

That PSU is going to bottleneck your build if you ever want to upgrade it. Also Roswell makes horrible PSUs. Those things are like bombs. No way to defuse and no idea when they will go off.

If I was you depending on your budget do a staggered upgrade.

First things would be upgrade your CPU, ram and motherboard.

Then in a few months get a better power supply and gpu.
