Post by: Supreme on June 24, 2013, 22:16

- No "WINDOWS 8 IS SHIT" please.
- No "BETTER BUY A PC, LAPTOP IS SHIT".

I want it for school and for some games, basically CT and ETS2 maybe even GTA IV, will it handle this?

Specs: 17,3", Intel Core i5-3230M, 4GB, 500GB, NVIDIA GeForce GT720M, DVD

It has Windows 8, and it's a laptop. It's terrible.

Seriousness over with, that should run most games on low-medium settings. The 720M (735M is a huge step up) is a lightweight power-efficient GPU typically for videos etc. It'll run pretty much anything better than a Intel GPU though.

I am really considering this, I got the money the only problem is time of buying, I would like it now but there will also be a back to school action in 2 months, I could get it cheaper than, I just don't know.

I think you should be going off the HD size, the CPU speeds and ram. Not OS. Since you said you want it for school. I'd be more inclined to the bigger HD since = more saving space, open files quicker. Lighter etc etc.  Yeah it might be W8, but as long as it gets the job done :P

Should have mentioned what 'school' would need:
- Word
- Excel
- Chrome (browser)
Mostly number things, not drawing/animating etc.

I have a 320GB hard drive, with 94GB left, and I have MS Office 2010, Adobe CS4 (huge!), GTA SA, a huge Spotify cache, rarely ever cleared Chrome cache, 3.71GB of images, 2.05GB of videos, 1.19GB of music, 12.3GB of downloads and I even have ~46GB dedicated to Ubuntu.

Size isn't a really big factor unless you're dumping movies and downloading a LOT of games. These days you can't go wrong with 500GB.
