Title: Auto lock
Post by: SpazzBucket. on May 10, 2013, 18:15
I think that after 30 days of not being posted in a topic should be auto-locked, to prevent bumps but admins can still lock the posts if they want, and players can lock their own topics at any time.  But after the 30 days only admins can unlock topics, and then I assume admins will lock it again so there would be no need to auto lock after another 30 days.

If a player has a question about a mod and it's a locked topic they can PM the player about it

This is possible and the modification allows to specify certain boards and has plenty of options to make it work well with this forum.

Quote from: Mod description
This mod adds a Scheduled Task to check for topics that have not been replied to in a while, and automatically lock them. You can change it on a per-board setting, so different boards have different amounts of time if you like, and you can specify never to lock old posts. You can also have it optionally ignore or lock sticky topics.

If other people believe this would be good, it could be added.

Neither for or against here, but considering the number of bumped topics is relatively low, and the number of bumps for no reason is even lower, why do we need this? I know bumping is frowned upon but unless the original topic is totally irrelevant at the time it was bumped, I see no harm.

Also, the forum just 508'd on me, you could see this as more load on the forum (probably miniscule). @admins: if you do add this mod, make sure you set the scheduled time to off-peak hours (it should be by default).
