Title: Host Suggestion
Post by: Yuffee on December 15, 2012, 11:06
Hi there, I came up with a suggestion to change the host. There are multiples of other hosts which  offer much more slots and servers that dont lag with loads of objects on the map. eg. Theres a server with 1000 slots it is sometimes full and nonstop 400+ players. They have alot of objects and the server doesnt lag. Ping on it is rarely above 100.
So why does CVT with 100slots lag like hell when it doesnt have that much objects?
If its about the money, im sure alot of CVT players would donate atleast €4 which would buy a new host.

having 400 slots, it would be ugly. 100 is already a mess for staff to work with. 1000 No way. And i belive mick has few months paid already forward on volt so i dont think he wants to just throw the money away. Those 1000 slot servers are all russians and as russia being large country it comes with a large amount of players. If you taken a look at server population different time of the day its about 50 at min. No point on upgrading it to even 400.

Those are the russian servers and more slots=bigger price to host, if the minimum donation was maybe 20 euros we could get something like that, and the donation was almost mandatory, so unless you want to pay more for a better host, stop complaining

I'm not saying i want the server to upgrade to any kind of slot. I would like the server to have more memory so it wouldn't be laggy...

To gain a 1000 slot server, your server MUST be constantly @ 500 players no matter what the time is. As Hax said, 100 is plenty.

Once again im saying that i didnt mean to get the slots up. I wanted to change the server memory so it doesn't lag!

Right now the server is just a VPS i guess. Not a dedicated and i dont think you have chance of getting more RAM and horsepower with the current package. It would be like step up.
btw:
400 slots = 100€/month
1000 slots = 200€month

Right now its 25€ month

Im thinking that could the Gamemode be so heavy or what as our 'sister server' is doing fine with with their 100 slots.
But i belive how volt works with their servers are that they allocate you more ram as you raise the slot amount.

Is there no such a way to get them to give us more ram and we will pay some more ?

You say 'we'. But Mick won't force players to donate. Mick run's the server off funds, not out of his own pocket.

If the players would cooperate and donate the server would get money for a host..

We cant force them to pay. As mick said somewhere that server is and always will be free to play. But yeah, live with it now. Take this as a chance to go outside with your friends and so something.

Do not buy a VPS, it is very hard to configure and have more vulnerability to DDoS attacks.

....I may not be smart. BUT volt was paid to host convoy...which has been offline. So he gave them money (donated by players) and got so far minimal responses as to what is being done to fix the issue and when it will be back online.

Paying for no service in most places is "throwing money away".
