Ok, let's make it clear - Do cops allowed to stalk thieves to the point of starting a mission ?
Scenario example:
Me.Boxburg. I picked a mission and on the way to the house. Some cop sees me half way through to the house and follows me. Here we go:
1. I stop and wait. Cop stops and waits. Does this count him being idle/not doing duty, while I am on my mission, but havent started it, and will not start while cop won't go away ??
- or
2. I get to a house, starting a mission and cop jails me.
Even if I am not on a mission yet, but in a car that I use for a mission, cops still stalk me (because he thinks he's cheeky and clever). Does this counts as idle/not doing duty ?
I received a reply from one of the mods, quoting:
'If you are known suspect, its okay', 'If he know that you will became suspect, its okay'.
How does this makes sense? If I want to play and do my missions, I will fail to do so, because cop allowed to stalk me and as I get wanted, he jails me and fail mission straight away.
So, I am not able to do this type of missions, because cops stalk me and arrest just straight away, when I start my mission.
Regards,
maka
Hey there, you dont have the rights for copying, thats my quotes, ima sue you !
I see cops camping near the "potential" suspect as idling, which is kickable/revokeable. But according to Lindsey, and others i dont know, that "camping" is allowed. :-\

Shouldn't be allowed! Ban all idling cops :P at least revoke :) PERM Revoke! :D

Konali's cop rules:
Not allowed:
- Racing on duty = revoke
- Attending to a carshow ( without taking fines/arrests) = revoke
- Ramming/blocking non suspects: kick/warn/revoke ( depends on the situation+ known recent history)
- Farming cop score with thiefs: letting the thiefs unload, but more important letting the thiefs go to the unload without having the intention to stop them, not ramming/arresting where it is possible. Please note! : 1 time - not farming, doing it over and over again it is. =Ban 14 - 200 days
- Helping others with the cop test/providing them answers = warn/revoke
- Camping for house = Warn/revoke
- Idling = not revokable, but kickable
Defination of Idling: Doing nothing, not being AFK but not doing anything related to the cop duty. Examples: ESC'd or alt tabbed in the middle of the road, or waiting over 1 min for a person that is trying to steal. Yes you are allowed to camp, but you are a cop and if you are not doing your job, a player is able to become thief and you are not of any value to the police force online at that moment. Kick if: Idling over 1/2 minutes while doing nothing or waiting for a thief to steal. Because there are fines to collect all over the map.
Allowed:
- Camping= Allowed
Defination of Camping: Controlling a specific area and collecting fines and passing suspects that come by. Example: Camping toll booths or intersections that are known for crowdy traffic.
Note*: you can get asked by online server staff to expand your camping area, or collect fines all over the map, if you are one of the few cops online. In other words: camping is ok, but if you are the only cop online you should try to keep it as organised as possible - Escorting = Allowed, but do not ram thiefs that are not red yet, you can escort securicar drivers to their unload and load markers, and you can use a box formation to prevend thiefs from ramming. Thiefs cannot ram cops unless they are wanted, and they use it to get rid of the cops. But if a thief is trying to steal a securicar van, he can not ram the cop.
I hope its a little bit more clear for you know.
Please keep in mind that this is my vision of the cop rules and known features ingame, punishments may be different, but not unfair of unjustified.

This:)
This has come up before. If the cops stays there for an EXTENDED amount of time and does not fine or control, then it he is idle because he isn't doing his job. If they do fine and do control in that area, it is not. HOWEVER if a cop sees suspicious activity and hangs around that area, then the cop is doing what cops are suppose to do. Stop Crime! I know criminals are stupid or they wouldn't be criminals, BUT, use your friking head. If a cop is in the area, you know, blue icon on mini map, don't just drive to the house your going to rob, park there and whine that the cop won't let you steal. DUH! When you see them, go someplace else until they leave the area. I am totally amazed at how stupid people get about playing the thief roll. There are just a few, and I mean a very few, that actually think about what they are doing and plan their actions as a thief. Those of you that play the thief roll just want cops to give you a free ride. Why not just ask the cop to escort you while you steal stuff. The thief roll isn't suppose to be so easy that you just drive up to the house, steal stuff and drive off on your merry way. Your a thief. Your suppose to avoid cops.
All to often I see a people stealing in one area. Cops show up and instead of the thieves going to where the cops are not, they just complain that the cops won't leave them alone. It cracks me up. I guess that is why our jail system is so crowded. LOL

Haha nice words TK, and its the truth:)
Cant do the time, dont do the crime.
And cops can camp certain areas, but they cant do that for endless time amounts without collecting fines or suspects.
Thats why Joshy , Zacco and me some while ago started giving cops about 2 minutes before we as staff interfere. :)
Cause Its simple, cops cant idle cause that would benefit the thiefs more than it is supposed to:)

Yep, I agree with both of you.
It's not against rules, but they shouldn't do that. OBviously a thief who is followed, is not going to start robbing the house when a cop is around. There's no point.

Then can we call this a type of idling? As it will be a continuous stand off until either someone quits, or reclasses.

I'd say only after some time. Cops are supposed to prevent crime, by waiting by the suspect, he isn't going to steal / rob so that's preventing the crime. However after some time it's also idling.

You have a valid point, however he's only limiting himself to one player, what about the other 99? remember the average ratio of cops to players is probably 1:15 maybe 1:20.
Cops that are limiting themselves to one guy are not helping at all in my opinion.
It is like I said. If you are a thief, stop being stupid. If there are a bunch of cops in the area, go some place else.
Your time would be much more productive if you robbed where the cops are NOT versus whining that the area you have been stealing in for the last 20 minutes is now swarming with cops and they won't leave you alone. Let the cops do what they are suppose to do. Reduce crime where they are. YOU don't have to be where COPS are.
Cops don't whine when thieves reclass. Move around. There are a couple of thieves that go someplace else each time I get near them. I hardly ever catch them. Take a lesson from them. ;)

Had the same problem earlyer, I'm rather new to the server and decided to try and rob a house. Cop followed me to the house, i went into the marker, he came to me topspeed and rammed me, jailed me :(
