Download Speccy and tell us your motherboard. And what is your power supply wattage? Sometimes its on the side of the actual supply box.
Well this is all the info I can give atm cause I'm not at my computer and on a laptop and in a different area. And the computer is all factory hardware still so I haven't been inside it but I'm sure there's no warranty on it any more
Probably need a new PSU to run a decent GPU. Personally I still use an old 260GTX so I would say you want at least a 4xx series for directX 11 or something newer comes down to budget really
If you buy a new motherboard with AM3 slot you can get Phenom li x6 cores and you will have a super computer :P

Well I did some research and this is what I found. It is exactly like my computer. (Updated main post)
Anyways you still didnt said what is your power supply wattage :/ it helps alot to know if your pc can handle stuff that uses lots of watts

PSU 220W
You need a new PSU to run any kind of decent graphics card, Buy a good branded power supply too you dont want your nice new GPU to go pop after 1 month of use
Well I do want a power supply that has good wattage but is also quiet. The power supply I can deal by my self.
Edit: Well I have been looking at the Nvidia GTS 450 for a while.

AMD sucks I got a 6 core and yea it sucks. INTEL FTW! 3960X!
Buy a new pc :P
I might buy the radeon HD 5570 which means I won't have to upgrade my psu in my computer
Im like you drocto, I want to add in a dedicated video card but I need to find one that will work with my 250 watt PSU
This is what a get with the gpu I'm wanting to get. And this was for checking specs needed to run gta v.

What website is that you used for that to get the specs and 0-10 score. Sorry to bump the topic
You may run into troubles with your power supply with adding a good graphics card. Id get a AMD 6850. any brand name, i use ASUS. They should fit into small cases, it fit into my last small case. i had to move some stuff but thats easy.
Edit: You will have some problems. Get a power supply, fairly cheap. get a 500w psu and youll be fine. i have like 720
no point in getting a 6850. My cpu would hold its performance back
Drocto. I have the exact same pc.
I have asked lots of people about upgrading it and its pointless. You'd need to upgrade the cpu, motherboard and power supply before you can chuck a decent new gpu in there. You're better off and in the end and Cheaper off buying a better pc imo.
PS: Mine has 4 cores and it still wasnt recommended.
your computer probally wouldnt run V anyway. Start savin and build a computer. SAVE YOUR HDD / CD DRIVE and use them in a new computer. I built mine for 640$. I could have spent less and been okay. I bet V will be easier for computers to run than IV because IV was POORLY coded for PC

Thankyou!
Upgrading your gpu would be easy. I dont see any need to upgrade anything else, because a 6850 would run basically perfectly with those specs you have.
**And matt, you have Intel quad 1st Gen, and only @ 2.4Ghz, so how's it the exact same?**
