I use #2 on my MacBook, iPhone and gaming PC.
Both in 1600x1200 resolution, fits 4:3 monitor, but can also fit 16:10/16:9 if you change a setting in your Personalization (Assuming Windows 7) to make it fullscreen without stretching.
