I have an old laptop and with a enhanced IDE hard drive.. If I wanted to get a new hard drive to get it to work, what do I need to buy? a PATA, IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA, IDE Ultra ATA133 / ATA... something else that dont make for my 8 year old laptop??

and yes its old because it has a max of 1 GB DDR Ram memory, XP home stock OS for that time.. and I am pretty confident that the hard drive has failed because it wont completely boot up correctly and the battery light is constantly blinking orange, im pretty sure that is a battery problem.

anyone have any idea what type of harddrive I need, links will help as well...

What does it do when you try booting it up?

PATA = IDE.

I know its the hard drive and I need a new one but is IDE the new PATA?? laptop PATA/IDEs are how much nowadays?

whats the size of the drive? 1.8", 2.5" or 3.5" also: PATA = Parel ATA = IDE
What i found from my local store the IDE drives cost around 70-120€
dosent cost really anything

I think it would be the 1.8 or 2.5 because the 3.5 is for desktops, and its a laptop hard drive
