Title: Traffic monitoring
Post by: HeLiOn_PrImE on December 14, 2011, 19:47
Looks like the server is slowly but steady increasing in players. Since I arrived it went from 62 maximum slots to 94. That's the greatest thing. That means the road traffic will soon be like in real life (sometimes annoying). I suggest monitoring the traffic in each area.

Something like how many players does that area have reported to the maximum players. That way when the server is crowded, truck drivers can use that system to choose a suitable route (we don't need that just now, only later when the maximum reaches 100).
You can even monitor the areas for like 3 hours and assign that percentage. The driver will then know, how much traffic was in that area and decide if it's better to stay there, or do loads somewhere else.

so basically you want to analyze all the different traffic patterns people use so you can avoid the overly used ones to avoid crashes??
pointless

It whould be nice, but more than 500 players whould be to less too!
So this isnt really necessary.

Kind of like, 'Heavy traffic in LV-LS intersection, use alternate route if possible' announcement sort of things?
IT would be cool, but the amount of time it would to it, wouldnt be cool.

I agree it takes a lot of time to script. That's why I mentioned that we don't need it now.

If you want it to be graphic, I guess they could color the minimap from light green to red (like the gangs in single player), and put a the on/off switch command.
