Title: Packer truck missions.
Post by: BadassFromSwagville on August 25, 2014, 21:17
I didnt see that this has been suggested before so what about adding packer missions? That would be delivering vehicles from warehouses to car dealerships, like restocking them

actually this was suggested before Josh revised the suggestions... you have to give more of a reason or more definitive explanation of what you are suggesting.

Im suggesting a new type of job (Also probably a new achievement) that needs a pakcer and the thing you have to do is deliver vehicles from warehouses or vehicle factories to car dealerships. So this will require adding packers to truck depos or car dealerships, adding specified tasks for this type of truck etc.

Even in single mode it was hard to keep a car on the packer. Because it wasnt attached to the packer, the car can just move freely inside the packer.

If Joshy knows a way to "attach" the car inside the packer, it could be done.

And load 2 cars = overload ;)

Joshy isnt the only scripter here you know  ::)

Anyway, the only way this can be done, is via a timer that'd constantly set the vehicles position/angle relative to the packers location. Unless it was just no cars there xD but that'd make it pretty shit. This has also been suggested before, a post by Storm94 comes to mind:

This is actually not scriptable. Until SA-MP adds a "AttachVehicleToVehicle" native, it can only be accomplished by timers, and then its really buggy.

Or we can just load,  like hauling cars from X to Y no need to place/ attach cars.

What if the towing attach thing would be used? Just positioning the towing point to a place to make the towed vehicle on the packer itself.

So instead of placing the tow point to this:

It could be positioned like this:

Btw I have no idea if with samp script the towing point is adjustable in XYZ or not. And I have no idea how it would work, just wondering... :D

Attachment points are set by vehicle models (SA), all SA-MP can do is attach/detach trailer, no offset adjustment.

If you attach cars to the packer by a script it will bug the fuck out and blow things up. The missions would have to be with the packer empty. So you'd go somewhere to "load" and there wouldn't be any cars on it. Then you'd "unload" the invisible cars at the destination. It'd be pretty pointless. :dislike:

It would be extremely buggy visually, people would constantly crash due to desync of samp. plus if 30/50 players on a full server (45-50/50) that would make the server very laggy having to constantly run the command for each player

Its no different to helicopter missions. You carry engines/parts whatever, but dont see any boxes or w/e xD Not everything can be done in SAMP, its not a bang on simulator.
I dont see why this could be a problem xD
