Title: SF Train Tracks
Post by: Adam10001 on January 07, 2013, 01:32
Greetings all...

I have a suggestion about something that is announced in the server but never followed, Its the "Remember: Driving on train tracks is not allowed."
(http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/9673/samp042ty.png)

Tho allot of the bridges and tunnels are blocked off this one is heavily used and isn't blocked off.

There are many people that do drive on the train tracks on the way to SF docks (see video)....

VIDEO:

(There are many examples and players i could list but i broke my hard drive that had the footage on it so i'm limited to whats left)

I have come up with a simple solution to fix this and it is to block off the tracks, See images bellow.

I have even saved you time by scripting it myself...

CODE:
//SF Train Track Docks Block Off
//Top
CreateObject(969,-1809,-30,6.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence

CreateObject(969,-1756,-25,5.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,270.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1756,-30,5.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,270.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1756,-36,5.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,270.00000000); // Fence
//SI wall
CreateObject(969,-1865,-26.5,14,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1865,-26.5,16,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence

Hope this helps.

(i used my old server script to script in the new barriers, Server shut down a while back so i use it for testing.)

**Update: I have forgotten 1 barrier on the train track but that isn't important (I can add it if you want)

Many Thanks For Your Time

I like it. Mostly thieves drive through there to get to the SF export crane. Blocking it off could help cops arrest them.
Cool idea.

Thanks Hobo, I missed a gate where the track continues (where the drop down gate is)

I don't think the gates seen in the original post would be too bad but blocking the fence where the drop down gate is, in my opinion is a stupid idea.

If you block that fence off, that leaves only one entrance into that area which makes it a lot more difficult for thieves considering the other entrance is narrow and can be blocked by one cop with ease. Also placing a gate surrounded by a fence is just useless, you can still drive through the fence.

vote no on new fences for SF thief dropoff

in a sense of it all your only focusing on one area to close off from the train tracks.. I like the fact that thieves have an area that they can use to get to the dropoff that is fairly easy

and in this iamge:
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/2881/samp038ro.png (http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/2881/samp038ro.png)
your blocking an area off on the left that not even classified as train tracks, why do that?
Title: Re: SF Train Tracks

Because I have seen allot of people come out of the area where you spawn in Garcia and cut through that gap (crossing the train tracks)

**It Can easily be removed from the code**

Like Joshy said, the ones you have up are good. The one connected to the building on the far left isn't really needed in my opinion.
A fence at the drop down gate further down isn't needed either since that's one of the only ways into the dock.
The only needed ones, in my opinion, are the ones that are under the bridge.

Then to remove them 2 gates all you have to remove is this part of the code
Quote//SI wall
   CreateObject(969,-1865,-26.5,14,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence
   CreateObject(969,-1865,-26.5,16,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence

New Code: //SF Train Track Docks Block Off
//Top
CreateObject(969,-1809,-30,6.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1809,-35,6.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1809,-40,6.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1809,-30,9.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1809,-35,9.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1809,-40,9.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,90.00000000); // Fence
//Bottom
CreateObject(969,-1756,-25,2.5,0.00000000,0.00000000,270.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1756,-30,2.5,0.00000000,0.00000000,270.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1756,-36,2.5,0.00000000,0.00000000,270.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1756,-25,5.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,270.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1756,-30,5.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,270.00000000); // Fence
CreateObject(969,-1756,-36,5.0,0.00000000,0.00000000,270.00000000); // Fence

There is also a gate to the left of the gate into the docks, but as joshy said the fence around it can be driven through

I like that shortcut, so -1.

It could  be added but it has to be better then. 4 fences for that entrance? I can do it with 2!

-1 because driving longer on train tracks gives you $500 fines so just a small shortcuts somewhere wouldn't be that bad.

Post by: Konali on January 14, 2013, 15:53
This rule was created back in 2010 if im correct or early 2011. Back then we had still trains driving on the train tracks, and huge convoys liked to go from FC to SF on the train tracks, or from rockshore to LS.  I was one of them and it was great when you were driving in a convoy of 40 players, from who 20 were driving in a colonne on the train track, with incomming trains on it :D

However this rule got outdated when, mick made it so that when you drive on the train tracks you got fines+ fences where added at many points.

Since this rule is outdated, i wouldnt pay to much attention to this adam:)

I understand his concept. Thieves' life should not be easy, no problem if it's hard to get that achievement, achievements have to be hard. I really don't understand people with Unexpected Guest ach complaining...
Anyways, I'm neutral about it. Good, because if other train tracks (tunnels, bridges...) have been blocked, why not block this too. Or no fence, but then remove other fences too, fines should be enough. But I don't like it because it's a nonsense to block such a sort section of tracks (irl).

All train tracks should be free.
And the train Running like the old times.
We just need more expensive fines for driving over them.

No, no,no, no, NO! This is a ridiculous suggestion.

If you want to do this, How about we bring up all the other Rules.

It's Against the rules to speed, It says Remember t follow the /speedlimits, You have had fines.

It also says, Same rules apply as in real life, Now I bet you have drove on thhe wrong side of the road a few times, Drifted one too many times, Knocked Down a few hundred Stoplights and lightpoles, Do you want to put a fence around Those poor lightpoles that did nothing to you, but you knocked them down?

Why block that off?
It aint hurtin nobody if anyone uses it.
