Title: GTA SA ain't working on my Win 7 laptop!
Post by: MarkkeR on August 01, 2014, 07:51
Hia ppls, I just got a new laptop yesterday, that came with freedos (ohgodno), so I installed Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Then, I downloaded GTA SA, (that came with SAMP for some reason) and tried to start it. Nothing happend. Tried all compatibility modes and run as admins as possible, nothing! Not even black screen! Not even a logo!!! Tried SAMP, but before I could write my name in the nickname bar up there, ERRORERRORERRORERROR errorspam dammit!! I had to restart my laptop.

Any ideas for this problem?? I really want to play GTA SA again!!

BTW, here are the specs:
Model: HP Pavilion 15
RAM: 8 GB (DDR3L)
Processor: Intel I5 4200U
2.6 GHZ (thats the max possible, what it really is, is now 1.6 GHZ)
Cores: 4
Cache: 3MB
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT 840M, 2GB
HDD: 1TB

Any possible solution appreciated!!  :-\

maybe you should have installed win7 professional cuz i use professional win7 on my laptop and gtasa works just fine on it i also read on several forums once that most people use professional rather tham ultimate cuz the professional has a better program structure than ultimate. at least thats what i read.

Thats the problem. You need to install GTA SAMP, because of registry. Download it here: http://sa-mp.com/download.php
Also, does singleplayer work? Keep us informed, so we can help you :)

That's what I first checked, if gtasa.exe works! Nah, doesn't do shit. Not even a damn popup!
About my Win 7, hey, I only had 7 ultimate, nao what am I gonna do? go buy 7 pro for 350$? Nah thanks.
SAMP ain't the main problem now, GTA SA SP is.

Don't use "home cooked" gta sa game (like the one you mentioned with samp built in).

What do you mean? I'm gonna get an .iso file, fine, and reinstall gta sa, but what if that doesn't work?
Mehh, found out that not even Just Cause 2 is working, cus it has directx 11 and not 10 :|
I hate that rockstar actually had time to make an android version, but didn't have time to make a fix for win7 for gta sa!! Wth??

GTASA works fone on Windows 7. You using Professional over Ultimate (liek me) makes no difference. Try finding a clean version of SA, if you want a good torrent link, PM me and i will find you one.

Ok, just reinstalled it from an ISO file, same stuff. Didn't much help.

Okay here is what I want you to do

1) Go to your documents and remove the SA folder
2) Download the torrent I send you in PM
3) Unzip it (x/Program Files/Rockstar Games/GTA San Andreas), you don't need to install anything, it's extract-and-play)
4) Uninstall the SA:MP that came with it
5) Download newest SA:MP and install it
6) Play

I downloaded this torrent 3 years ago, and still use it. (Tested win7 and win8.1)

The SA-MP client isn't starting? BTW SA-MP / GTA:SA does work on all editions of Windows 7 (trust me on this, I've run SA on Win 7 Home Premium 32 & 64 bit, and Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit -- heck it even works on Windows Server 2008 after some tweaking).

No bro, SAMP client starts normally, like on my Win XP, all fine, but I click "connect" and nothing happens. That's the problem! The game refuses to even start.

Man, I don't get it!! How does it work for everyone but not for me?? Did you install any cracks or stuff on the ultimate x64 bit?

No. We bought it legally.

Delete every GTA:SA install you have.
Install a FRESH copy of GTA:SA
Download and install SAMP from the official website.

GTA:SA and SAMP both work perfectly fine on every version of Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1.

Your samp exe needs to be in the same compatibility mode as your gta_sa exe, that did the trick for me. I'm running windows8 with sa and samp on compatibility mode windows 98/me (I had the samp doesn't start gta_sa problem too, what I just said fixed it for me)

Ha. Ha. Ha. What a good joke. It ain't that easy man, it's a 10 year old game that SHOULD NOT work on newer Windows. Aight, I buy a GTA SA for 10$ here (real price wtfff), I install it, but what if it doesn't work now either?

@Hobo, man, that thing ain't working.

Heyy, just got an update. (not for gta sa that fixed it *faceplum*, but a bigass problem) Hell for me, I don't know how to fix this: no 3D shit is working, gta 4 aint working, flatout 2 aint working, nfs world aint workin, nfs mw 2012, just cause 2, ets 2, bwahbwahbwah etc. Everytime an error, but when I go to play a 3D game on the internet, "Unity Web Player requires DX9 level graphics card. Make sure you have graphics card driver installed." When I tried to update my drivers, I downloaded the newest version from nVidia website, but when I tried to install it, at the "checking system" stage, it told me that my pc is not compatible, even though the drivers were compatible with my video card... how in the heavens do I fix this hella big problem????

Yeah, I guess. Cya sometime later... I dunno what I'm gonna do, maybe breaking the laptop by throwing it at the wall might fix the problem... Fuck it, I don't need games anymore, time to get mature... by force... Not much childhood I ever needed, but me and my PC were best friends... Unless I fix the old PC so it wouldnt burn when I'm playing games, the shit would hit the fan. Much of litteraly, the only problem is that my toilet ain't broken xDD But then what do I do with the laptop? Yeh, until I find a solution, it's unknown how much time I shall be bored to infiinnniiiitttttyyyyyy. Shit happens, I guess. Bye!

Holy fcking hell! Holy fckin hell!!! I am sooooooo happy!!! :D :D :D :D :D Yeah, I solved the BIG problem, just as well as GTA SA!!!!! Hell ye!!! It is working sooo good, it worked outa the first try!!! The fix: simple, stupid stupidity: Windows wasn't updated at fuckin all!! Someone else installed Windows for me, and I thinked that he put the updates, yet he didn't. There was an Intel update, that was related to graphics n stuff. My rating went from 1.0 to 5.9!! Hell ye! (graphics arent 5.9, they're around 7, that's the lowest score) Thanks everyone for helping me out, but since I can't give a cookie to myself, the game was downloaded from Supreme's suggestion, so here comes a little cookie!
