My External Hard Drive (1.5 TB WD MyPassport) is not working anymore after falling to the floor. I decided to open it the hard drive. can someone repair a hard drive here?
if you opened it and exposed the magnetic surface to dust DO NOT plug it in anymore. Send it to a data rescue service
too late, when i opened it i dont know what to do anymore on it so i just left that dead hard drive in my drawer and days later i checked it and found dusts on its circles (i think that part is where the hard drive writes and reads data)... what part does the hard drive stores it data/files itself??
On this metalic plater it writes data if that has been exposed to outside elements its pretty much done and can be recovered in a data recover service

If you ever want your data back from a dead hard drive, never take it apart... everything inside of the hard drive is airtight, has no contaminants and everything works within micrometers of precision. The moment you open the top cover you expose it to stuff in the air (dust, humidity) so you've probably made your problem 100x worse.
Your only option is to take it to hard drive data recovery specialists, which costs a lot of money.
i will post the picture of my external hard drive later. It has just 700+ Movies, 20 Anime & TV Series, 25 PC Games and 20 PC Software Installers :'( that's why i really need the data files... but data recovery here in our country is too much expensive, i can't afford that :( .... I just need the list of all movies (not files) so i can download it and i think i'll just buy 2TB because it's cheaper than recovering data :'(
Here's my Hard Drive Situation :'( R.I.P.
its dead.
Well atleast you saw the inside of a harddisk in real life, that's about the only positive thing you've achieved by opening it.
It's dead.

I don't know what's worse, the hard drive being destroyed or the fact you're writing C++ :(
Lol in my desk hahaha! i wrote that when i began coding the basics of c++ lol
