Title: My New Laptop :)
Post by: CarlJohnson on March 29, 2016, 10:35
So finally I'm going to buy a new laptop, I'd have bought one last time I created a thread about it but the laptop went out of stock (it's still out of stock), I thought I'd wait for few months for it to come back in stock but it never did. Then I spent my money on a new phone and new headphones (Beats by Dr.Dre <3). This is the laptop I'm looking forward to buy (still have 15 days or so).

Laptop:  Acer Aspire V3 574G (http://www.flipkart.com/acer-aspire-v3-v3-574g-nx-g1tsi-020-core-i5-5th-gen-8-gb-ddr3-1-tb-hdd-windows-10-2-graphics-notebook/p/itmeck24fqhfm8py?pid=COMECK24X6E5ZTYG&icmpid=reco_pp_same_laptop_computer_2&ppid=COMEDP7HQ2CFU2CG)

Specs:
Dual Core i5 5th Gen Processor with Hyper Threading
8 Gigs DDR3 Ram (upgradable to 16GB)
2GB Nvidia GeForce 940M
15.6 inch FHD LED Backlit Active Matrix TFT LCD Display
1TB HDD + 8GB SSD for OS
Backlit Keyboard :D

Against this we have  HP Pavillion AB219TX (http://www.flipkart.com/hp-15-ab219tx-notebook-core-i5-5th-gen-8gb-1tb-win10-2gb-graph-n8l68pa/p/itmeaz94qvrtxhdj?pid=COMEAZ94C2ZF7HBF&icmpid=reco_pp_personalhistoryFooter_na_na_4)

Specs and Price is nonetheless the same.
I went for the Acer one because it has a better built quality than the HP one (that's what I read in most of the reviews), although I'll checking both of them myself in some Local Store.

Thoughts ? Or have a better Suggestion? except for buying a PC (I already have a decent PC, just need to buy a PSU and Mobo since they blew up last time..

I thought so.
Can anyone who have used an Acer Laptop before tell me about his experience ? As I'm looking forward on using this laptop for next 3-5 years (till I graduate), so I wanna know if it'll hold out that long without giving me any serious tech issues.

I got an Acer in 2009 before high school finished, it was soso, i think all i was annoyed with was Acer labelled programs like some webcam program and, a harddrive locker from memory, but i think you get similar stuff on HP, Dell, and whatnot, the only tech issue i had with it was the screen stopped working after i but my thumb through it because i died in a game...:/

Bloatware, every brand has some of them. Whoa that's rough lol, though even I sometimes tend to close the lid very hard of this laptop, but that's mostly out of the frustration of this being a shit now. I'll be taking good care of the new one :) So I guess I can trust Acer then

That's a tiny screen ;_;

My sister had a Acer Aspire 2 years ago(unsure if it was the same as yours) and it kept overheating due to the fan housings filling up with dust in less than 2 days

if youre going to spend money on a laptop, DO NOT buy HP.. they are the crappiest pieces of shit in the world...whats your budget and conversion rate to $USD??

Are you serious?  ;_; Laptops with bigger screen size costs like twice of this one.
This model was released in August 2015 so I think it's not the one your sister had.

My budget is around $902 which is 60,000 INR in my country.

QuoteThen I spent my money on a new phone and new headphones (Beats by Dr.Dre <3).
Please, don't be stupid.

OT: Go for the Acer, the resolution on the HP you linked is 1366x678 vs 1920x1080 on the Acer, so, this should be enough to choose Acer over the HP. Also, HP is shit, so Acer.

ALSO: Acer's memory is expandable up to 16GB, whilst the HP's is not.

Asus has made some pretty good quality things, and I don't see yalls issues with HP mines hitting the 4 year mark and it still trucks along. it plays ATS and ets2 so that's really all I need. it isn't a gaming laptop, of course, but it gets the job done for those PC exclusives such as CS or tf2 or the truck simulators. basically, it does what I want it to, and I'm a happy gal.

Can't carry a desktop around.

When you get a new laptop, reinstall Windows 10 on it to get rid of all the bloatware. Just download Windows 10 from Microsoft and make a bootable USB with it, then install. Works much better than just unistalling the crap.

Dell is way too overpriced.

I couldn't find a Asus laptop with a decent GPU at this price range. The only one I could find was this:  Asus K555LB-DM109T  (http://www.flipkart.com/asus-k555lb-dm109t-k-series-dm109t-core-i5-5200u-8-gb-ddr3-1-tb-hdd-windows-10-2-graphics-notebook/p/itmedf79pkdzg2tc?pid=COMEDF79ZYRZYGJG&al=1x7hoxeuc6kaCKc31V12%2B8ldugMWZuE75aUsiwTbcEPUBGi4EeLaCjh%2FabmDFKrbuPpPzMViC8Q%3D&ref=L%3A611784513023590799&srno=b_62)
Price is basically same for this and the Acer one I'm thinking of buying. I'll have to do some research to see which one is better.

I had an HP before, hinges broke out within 6 months of buying, could be my fault, but yeah the built quality was beyond horrible, If I wanted I could bend the whole display ._.

I already own a decent PC (need fixes though), I'll moving out to College/University soon enough as this is my final year at High School. I won't be carrying around my PC obviously. That's why I want a new laptop.

All in one PCs....? no thanks.

You're taking the definition of mobile literally. Because you can move it without special equipment doesn't mean its convenient. We use the term mobility with convenience in mind.

You can't stow a All-In-One in a college backpack, or even a travel bag.

Not to mention, how're you going to power it if you can't access an outlet? What if you're working and need to go mobile? What if you lose power? This is why I use and prefer a laptop for almost everything I do computer-wise. My HP is hitting 4 years and the battery still lasts for 4+ hours like it were new. I'm very impressed with this machine.
Anyway, I'm off-topic. The all-in-ones are neat for a limited space office but are in no way conveniently mobile.

If i would be buying a new laptop i would probably go for an ASUS for about $1000.
Even thow i wouldnt use it for hardcore gaming since i have my desktop pc for that. Would use it for school stuff and movies and such.. more easy stuff.
