Possible idea?

So I was thinking to add a bit of realism, for those of us that know diesels, if they run out of fuel they lose prime, so I was thinking of what if when we run out of fuel in petrol/linerunner/roadtrain we have to regain prime, similar to when the vehicle is in poor condition but you would be getting prime back and not broken down, if this gets interest I'll think up exactly how I would imagine it (actions/animations, inside/outside of truck/item(s) bought from store)

Diesel trucks need to have a primed fuel system, fuel pressure, if they loose that (run out of fuel) it becomes depressurized, I'm not completely sure but I don't think diesel trucks have a fuel pump, so pressure is built up by prime which is pretty much vacuum fuel pressure, correct me if I'm wrong

yes they have the pump, and pressure must be built up. and as far as i know when you run our of fuel in a diesel, you need to 'bleed' it(well that's what we call it here)

yes they have the pump, and pressure must be built up. and as far as i know when you run our of fuel in a diesel, you need to 'bleed' it(well that's what we call it here)

Yes to regain prime is somewhat like bleeding brakes

A gas vehicle you just crank as usual and the pump builds up the pressure, diesels are different and need to be primed, kinda like when you have to push that bubble on your 2 stroke leafblower/weed whacker

I know that, but regardless, you must crank a while if you run a vehicle out of fuel.

seems too complicated for the new guys to understand, or anyone whos not so mechanically minded.

implementing wear on the engine, (like oil etc), or tyres on vehicles would be more appropriate and user friendly.

Oil change and tires (I think you must have your Y and I keys reversed sand  ) would be a cool addition. Let's say you have to do an oil change every 100km driven and every 250km for tires for a given vehicle (or make up some value..). But if this is added, I think a decreased insurance rate should be in store. I have suggested before but it got turned down for some reason. My thought was that insurance value would be directly based on resale value. In real life, as your car gets older/crappier, insurance gets cheaper....why not here?

Well that wasn't what I was after but that would be an awesome idea, for the prime thing, if you run out of fuel in a truck, you have to get out and use a primer to prime the system, then you get in and try to start it will say "priming engine, press w or a to continue priming" and then eventually stop and the engine will start and you're on your way.

About this tire wear and oil changes, I love the idea, but I would increase the values, later tonight ingame I might scout out places that would look suitable for this to be done (Doherty gas station comes to mind for oil)

If the player drives the vehicle after the set value of kms for oil change the vehicle health slowly deteriorates, something like 1 point per km, but for every km they drive without changing it also increases by 0.1 every km (so at 10 km it will be going down at 2 points instead of 1)

For the tires, simple, if the player drives without changing the tires for the set distance they get a warning and they pop within the next 5km (set a variable so the tires may pop at 1km or 5km or anything in between)

Well, diseal will run 1 million miles and keep on running, current truck i'm in has 135000, but the odometer only reads 35000, if you take care of an engine they will run for awhile, 19 wheelers really don't loose their value if they are taken care of.

But adding in some type of oil change system would be nice, but why would the truck do if you don't change the oil? Will it make the truck so it can't be driven again or just be damaged till you change the oil.

The "prime" idea, i suppose is ok, but what about making it so you just don't have to prime it, make like a ether type system as well to make it quick, depending how long it would take to prime it, with an ether type system it could be where you have like 50 50 chance it will start and with the prime make it like 100 percent, i dunno that part has got me some what thinking

The oil and tyres im with, but the priming the engine and all that stuff, again, it may be confusing to new people or anyone whos not mechanically minded, so im against that one.
