Pc side pannel

I broke my two side fans, replaced them, but the new ones are rubbish and are super loud even when on low rpm..

So i have taken off the side pannel.. Is this safe or a good idea until i can replace the fans again? i know it sounds stupid but i dont want to damage anything

The CPU fan is the most important one that cant be removed, if your graphic card don't have a fan included, no worries.


Your PC is ok, unless you live in the Sahara.

It is alright to have the side panel off but it's not safe, meaning things could craw into your case and damage components.

At the same time, it also allows better air flow. You just decide which you prefer.

I think it could work good way and bad way.

Good way: more cooling, get to look at sexy parts (unless its intel )
Bad way: while it may get more air flow into the case, it could also have hot air going in, say your house is hot, the hot air will just bake the components inside.

All in all, a good move, but make sure the room doesnt get too hot, and make sure the cable management is ok, that way the wires dont block air getting to the nessasery parts, CPU, GPU, HDD RAM etc

It fucks up the airflow, Pulls alot more dust in, your dog, cat, squid whatever can go inside and make a home out of it.
I suggest disconnecting the fans and putting the cover back on.

Thats a good idea! just hope it still gets enough air flow..

Even 1 or 2 fans are enough as long as you got them set up properly. I came up with this intresting case once, Lanboy Air. It suggested in the users manual that you set all fans to push inside so theres positive preasure (less dust) and it pushes the air out of all holes and such in the case.
I usually prefer to have more intakes than exthausts because of the positive preasure.

Higher it is: Less dust
I usually clear my air filters every month or so.

The way i go:

120mm on the front dragging air in, one on the side dragging air in. then one on the back dragging air out I'm over the top on cleaning my PC i need a new CPU fan. It sits idle at 32-35c (nothing on. Just the basics) yet the PC is still groaning away every 5-10 mins reccomend any good brands?

I got Scythe Mugen 3 rev B on most of my builds. Affordable and great performance. CPU temp around 31c while typing this message.
It fits to LGA 775, 1366, 1155, 1156, 2011 and your AMD toys.

Both come with AMD/Intel mounting clips. Vipers H80 is more compatible with cases, as it only takes up one 140mm fan slot. But mine requires 2x140mm slots, side by side, (my care is a NZXT Phantom 410), so be careful with that.

Probably not as good as what Hax says he gets.
But im idling on 35*C now in 17*C room temperature. I was maxing out MW3 and Tomb Raider and barely touching 50*C

Mind you, you got ivy bridge, its running usually hotter than sandy bridge anyways. Im reaching around 65*C during running intel burn test
My room temp is always over 25*c also.

I used to keep my side cover off for about a year, nothing bad happened. If you clean the dust out at least once per week, it's not very likely for anything to happen. (Unless it's AMD  )


During that period,when it was really hot, i also used a fan i have taken out of an old refrigerator. It looked something like this:





It kept my PC ice cold at all times, and also kept all the dust out. Didn't use it much since the noise it made was equivalent to that of a smaller airplane. Wasn't very safe either, as it was more than capable of chopping off body parts lol

I know a guy that modded his snowmobile and put a turbo kit in it, he got 2 computer fans to help cool off the engine but also provided him with heated storage xD

Not happening anytime soon, i am not rewiring my whole case. Now do i have the money for the 820

I prefer cases with flat sides, easier to stack and put them in rack.

Had it for over a year now, my spec's are not great, at the time i had little money and it was my first build.
AMD 6100 not sure about the Ghz, think its still stock.(hex core)
8GB ram
corsair something 750w psu with blue leds 
AMD hd radeon 6850 2gb model (sucks now but a year ago it was ok for its price range)
NZXT phantom case
standard DVD drive
2 TB hard drive
Asus mx something evo

Adding a 120gb boot drive and a new graphics card soon..
