[PC issue]Guys i need your help xD

for the past 2 weeks, my laptop has had some troubles, i had 2 bluescreens xD and it is very slow.
For example, starting up SAMP takes 1 minute, connecting to the game takes 2 minutes.
Opening a new tabpage on the webbrowser takes 1 minute.
etc etc i think all of you kinda know where i am going with this.
I think my laptop is infected with a virus.


What i need from you guys si the best virusscan that there is and a program that can clean your pc really good.
In the past i used HitmanPro but i need to pay for it will it remove the results it found..
My antivirus is Avast, before this i used AVG and then i had no trouble, except i had some firewall settings fucked up and it wouldnt let me visit ct and other things so i took Avast.

Get Malwarebytes. Its the best antivirus at removing viruses when you PC is already infected. Do a full scan the first time you run it and just sit and let it scan.

Maybe try to defrag your laptop? That's a common cause for it to be slow. As for the blue screens, as I had one before when my screen had first broken, it just did some kind of thing on its own when I did a system restore and has worked fine since, but my network adapter has been derping a lot lately, but that's another story

I did with mine just after it was a year old, 4% fragged and I don't see why you wouldn't, you don't lose anything besides what u tell it to delete (e.g. Temp files, cookies, etc)

If I were in your position, I would do a formatting of the hard drive, meaning delete every fucking thing on the computer

I have had my PC for 5 years, and two times things got fucked up, and I restored everything back to new both times..

Do you have windows event log service enabled? If it is open that and look if theres still records from the bluescreens and post them. The bluescreen stop codes would also help. And reason why. You shouldnt just forget the bluescreens. Windows trying to cryptically hint you that something is going wrong.
Could be RAM, could be HDD, could be corrupted windows..
Memtest86 and Hdat2 are great little tools you can burn to CD and boot them and run the tests.
Memtest86 with a single stick atleast 1 pass. if no errors, try with same stick on another slot, if pass, try with another stick in first slot and so on.
Hdat2 to check bad sectors in your hard drive.

If your computer is slow on launching programs and opening web browsers/pages. That hints to a hard drive being full or in need of defragment. Remember: Defragmenting does not make you lose anything. It just moves data around in the hard drive sectors and cleaning it up so theres not so much left over files you deleted and copied and deleted. Always when you move or delete, there is small data left on the sector on hard drive which will eventually clog it up.

This is what i did when my computer was slow as fuck:

1- Use Malwarebytes. Do a full scan and if it finds a virus it will tell you and delete it.
2- Use Ccleaner. Clean all temporal files saved by Chrome, IE, blahblah
3- Use Ccleaner again and clean your Registry files. Keep retrying that process till ccleaner says theres no errors at the registry.
4- Since msconfig is abit more hard for someone that doesn't know about it, i should recommend you to check all the programs that starts with your windows clicking Startup at Ccleaner. It will let you disable, and delete programs from startup to make your pc much more faster.
5- Try to keep your PC clean of cookies, and temporal files using Ccleaner every once. I used to have 60gb of cookies and temporal files because i didn't clean my PC for about 4 years.

There is much more stuff you can do, such as tell your antivirus to not scan every file you are going to use. That slows down the performance since the program needs to check every file you want to use. If your pc is old and doesn't have enough RAM disabling that feature of your antivirus will help you alot.

Btw kona, you should backup your files monthly at least just to be safe, every1 should do that.

reinstall  windows, once done scan the windows.old folder, delete anything detected, re-transfer your stuff.

Honestly, i would just reistall Windows completely, reinstall only needed stuff (Samp, a better web browser, admin files etc), if it happens again then its a hardware problem.

Get tuneup utilities for free, its a 14 day trail. If not, Advanced system care, or CCleaner. I use all of them, and my pc pretty much runs as fast as it can go. Usually BSOD means, a hardware failiure. Or ive had it before, and it turned out to be a virus. You can get AVG for free, and thats held me back from virus's so far. But it seems to think the sscanf plugin is a virus . Like Matias said, a full clean install is always the last resort.

So if you have a spare few hours, take your laptop apart, clean the fans, ram, HD, all the insides. Then, do a full anti virus check with http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_pro/
it should clean up malware, trojans and all other sorts of virus's apparently. But to make sure, run AVG. If all else fails, buy a desktop PC

That statement is totally incorrect. When you have tried to use two or 3 programs and have found there is serious problems then there is no way around it 99% of the time and your forced to re install or do a repair install. Cluttering up your pc with several utilities for the same thing is useless.


Also I know for a fact that most companies will actually choose to have your computer reimaged most of the time unless it's a hardware related problem cause doing a long virus scan or defrag can take anywhere from 30mins~3 or 4  hrs and it takes about 10~15mins max to image over a new installation and you don't even need to be at the computer. It's a matter of about maximum 10 keypresses and then wollah let it flyby.

All they do is slow your PC down even more most of the time.
Who said you need to optimize the PC with programs? No no no. Every program on your startup will slow you significantly down. Every running program will use up bit of Ram and CPU. As you mentioned bluescreens, check your hardware for any faults. try updating some drivers that can cause bluescreen too.

Lol i optimized my pc that is 7 years old, now its much more smoother than an actual PC, and im using the same windows install since 2007. Till 2010 my pc was really slow. I decided to use some programs and mix them with some manual fixes and now my pc is really fast.

Ccleaner doesnt startup with your windows, i also have only 3 programs starting with windows right now: my antivirus, ati software and soundcard software, i also turned off some unnecesary services for home computers, you can do the same ccleaner does manually but you need to know how to edit your registry wrong entries, how to delete temporal files and other stuff that not everyone knows, i have learned how to do that at my job, but too lazy to do it and takes hours to edit the registry so i prefer to use ccleaner since its free and trusted.

Do whatever you want, i by myself will not waste my time reinstalling an OS when i can just fix it by myself.

You will never see how much i optimized this PC because you will never know how slow it was and how fast its now. 4 years ago i wouldnt bet i were going to be able to play MW3 on this PC, but i optimized it alot and got some hardware upgrade such as more ram and another AGP videocard.

Totally wrong, i have worked at 4 computer services tech and i have learned you must save an OS at all costs. No matter how many time you waste and what you gotta fix but you must ensure the OS will work fine after you end your job.
If theres no other way to fix it than reinstalling windows then you gotta reinstall it.
Loosing all your files is not something your clients wants and sometimes its impossible to do a backup of the files due to errors that doesnt let windows turn on.

It must be a virus, since pretty much everywhere they say on the web, that when you rpc restarts automaticly after a BSOD its a virus.
Besides that, according to the logbook my virusprogram got modified without my permission.

Get rid of the virus first of all, then disable or remove unneeded programs (not just the ones that run at startup...), then try to minimize your autoruns list (aka stop unwanted programs starting up at boot), clear temporary files etc with CCleaner and then run defragmentation software.

Decrapifer is good at removing so-called "bloatware" that is normally bundled when you get your PC.
MalwareBytes is good for scanning and removing viruses, you may want to run several anti-virus scanners one after the other (not at the same time, also make sure you're only running 1 real-time anti-virus protection application at once).
CCleaner for getting rid of temporary files.
Defraggler for defragging my HDD.
Autoruns by Sysinternals is good for listing and disabling startup entries.
I use Microsoft Security Essentials, I don't really explore the anti-virus options available out there so MSE could be inferior to another anti-virus application.

If you opt to re-install Windows, I use Ninite to batch-install most of my free apps like Chrome to save time and effort.

There are forums dedicated to helping folks like yourself to get rid of viruses and optimise general performance of their computer, one is BleepingComputer.

Use autorun program joshy told you or enter to msconfig and head to startup menu, check which programs you want to start with your pc (more programs = more slower)
Use ccleaner and clean all the temporal files, fix your registry and retry that process till ccleaner tells you theres no more issues at your registry.
