All server crashes are logged and in the last days there were only up to 3 crashes a day. Is that what you're complaining about? I will tell you 3 crashes in 24 hours is nothing. Just because you happened to have your carshow at the time, doesn't mean that I will move everything to a new untested host.

Come on, you know it's not about the car show. That was just an example.

Don't get me wrong but you look at this from a different perspective, you just check logs and for you everything is cool because generally speaking, the server more or less works. However, for us this lack of server's stability became new reality in which you have to decide whether start a new mission or just sit and do nothing, because either way there will be a general lag or the server will crash.

As I mentioned, I am a real newbie as far as servers and hosts are concerned, but is Volthost the only solution?

PS: I don't want to make this personal, but to me CVT is stagnating due to resistance to any improvements. It crashes? Well, deal with it. It lags? Who cares.

Chucky

I think it is not about the crashows , server crashes or what ever,

If you want to see what is wrong with the situation now, you should do a few work missions with Artic / Fuel / Dumper / Coach or what ever.

You will see (and i think almost everybody agrees with me) that a lot of people are crashing in to each other , trucks are going different ways on someone else he's screen , big crashes (not the server) and more.

And i know you cant change the host in 1 2 3 seconds but if this topic is about how i think, the answer is above.

Greetings,

Hobo

Server seems fine to me. It's much better than when it was in the UK. Now that it's in a different location I have no packetloss.

To give my persnal opinion about the new hosting location, I think it's very good. My packetloss is much lower than before and despite high ping, it's very responsive for me.

It's not responsive for me at all, and it is not my internet. In the start, it was perfect, but in the last two weeks or so, it has not responded fast. Often commands come up multiple seconds after typed in.

I haven't gotten lag, I love the location too, considering I am american.

+1 Hobo. Now the cases of people desynced decrease, and I personally have less packetloss.
Me owned Vikingo. xD.

I'm going to chime in here, and I'm going to attempt to remove my bias (since my ping is fucking awesome because of my short distance from the server (100mi/160km))

The Arizona server has seemed to work well for CVT. It has DDoS protection, which is what CVT needs right now. Now, when the server was hosted in France/UK, I consistently had 150-250 ping. But that is not what matters, this isn't a DM server. What we care about is packtloss.

Now think of the connection that the server has to the rest of the internet as a hose, and that hose has a specific thickness. Now, think of a packet as a water drop. That is how the internet works. A DDoS is when someone takes a fucking bucket and pours it into the hose, restricting our little streams of water that contact the server. Our streams together don't make a difference overall, but when someone puts a shitton of water into the hose, our streams can't make it there, and we have packetloss (and subsequently, timeout). Now, imagine DDoS protection as some really big black dude that can see that a guy with a bucket is coming, and that he is going to pour it into our hose. Well, Mr. Black Dude came prepared, and spliced a second hose into ours, and can direct the flood of water away. Once he learns when this guy likes to come, and where from, he can stop the guy from even pouring (at least in a crude sense. A server firewall blocks the malicious connections). Now, if we move the server back to Europe, the black guy doesn't come with, and we are back to square one.

I hope my explanation was clear enough (as well as amusing). Can we just stop the bitchfest about the new server location and just relish in the fact that we can actually play the damn game now?

I'm back, bitches :D

Shake

I don't really mind about the ping (180-220), but I get some lag spikes and DC's, but oh well, I'm happy I can play it.

mamorunl

I just heard some stuff from other people who are also with volt and they are saying the same stuff. Volt host is going bad :(

Guys, stop complaining :) I'm sure if there was a real problem mick would have it sorted, when the UK server was offline, mick went out of his way to host it personally, and he didn't have to. He chose to. If you lag, slow down, if someone rams you accidentally, /pm [I'd] apologize, whatever, I do it out of respect, there's ways around the lag spikes, and the downtime, I'd go into detail, but I'm kind enough not to rant :)

I loved the explanation about the DDOS protection, and the dude with the hosepipes by the way :D

Exactly. What people in this server lack is kindness, Instead of trying to solve the problem when they get into an accident, they decide to insult. A simple "Sorry" and some money wouldnt hurt would it?

And this is awesome as well, I agree, just say sorry and move on, it's what I do too, if I accidentally lag ram someone and they lose their trailer, I stop whatever I'm doing to help them reconnect it, it's just common courtesy, I wish there was more players in the server that had it

The question is - do you enjoy this way of playing (lags, crashes, logging in/out 5x times an hour)? Because I don't.

PS: I love the server, but some improvements would be welcome. I cannot understand policy of "play don't bitch no matter what".
