So, first and foremost, here is a quote from Ethan on xFire. My ducks are in a row

May I present to you, the CVT community, the lastest iteration of "Meinkraft," aptly dubbed "Feed-The-Meinkraft." The name change is because of the simple fact that we are now running the "Feed-The-Beast" modpack, which has been fully endorsed by the modmakers themselves. The FTB developer (Slowpoke101) and his crew have been given full permission to distribute these mods. I just purchased a VPS, so the server is running 24/7, on the IP below.

This will be a whitelist server. To get added to the whitelist, just reply with your MC username. I just dont want random people joining.

The server does run in offline mode, so non-premium clients can connect, however, I provide ZERO support for non-premium clients. I did find a Forge mod that allows a Bukkit style login, but works with MinecraftForge, so rest assured that if you are non-premium, your account is safe.

Rules:
1. You shall not grief, annoy, loot, steal from or harm another user, their living area(s) or their contributions to the server.
2. You shall not make Mystcraft ages for no reason. Everyone is to live in the Overworld. Find an area that you like to call home.
3. You shall not quarry or strip mine the Overworld. A Mystcraft age has been specifically created for mining.
4. You shall not make contraptions specifically designed to lag the server. Any machine you make should have some sort of overflow protection (use LogiPipes, they are amazing)
5. You shall not disrespect any other member of the community. You are encouraged to be community oriented, share and be friendly, however not required.
6. Any bug is to be reported to one of the OPs.
7. Be excellent to each other, and have a great time.

Failure to follow any of these rules is grounds for instant permanant banishment from the Feed-The-Meinkraft server (and I will take your diamonds). If you ever have a question, feel free to ask one of the OPs (or a fellow community member).

The server is a Techmod server. It runs with little intervention to your installation, however, its not a plug and play server. Some things need to be done on YOUR end.

We have removed the mod "Gregtech," as it makes IC2 enirely too difficult, and turns it into an end-game mod, rather than a intro mod (its intended purpose). We also add in a fork of the original "Logistics Pipes." Here are the steps to get joined with as little trouble as possible.

1. Go to http://feed-the-beast.com and click on download at the top.
2. Download the exe (or jar if you prefer/are on Linux).
3. Put the launcher in a folder somewhere (not on your desktop, it creates a bunch of files and folders in the directory it is ran from) and launch it.
4. Where it says "Select Profile," hit the drop down and select "Create Profile." Enter your MC username and password (yes, you need a legit account.)
5. Ensure that the modpack "Feed The Beast Beta Pack A" is selected and hit "Launch"
6. Wait for MC and the mods to download. When you are at the MC splash screen, close out.
7. Re-Open the Launcher and select "Edit Mod Pack" right above the mod list, on the right.
8. Select Gregtech and hit disable.
9. Click "Add mod"
10. Download: Logistics Pipes 0.6.0pre2
11. Navigate to it in the "Add Mod" window, and add it.
If you are an advanced user:
12. Re-launch the game. IT WILL CRASH. This is purely to generate the Logistics Pipes Config. At the bottom of the config, edit the block ID for "logisticssignid" to 2550 and "logisticssolidblockid" to 2551
If you are a noob:
12. Download this file: Logistics Pipes Config and drop it into your FTB/FTBBETAA/minecraft/config folder
13. Launch the game for the LAST TIME, and join the server: 198.8.84.201

We will also be resetting the world as soon as RP2 comes out, as it has worldgen that cannot be satisfied by the Ore Dictionary (Nikolite).

UPDATE!

Due to the AMAZINGNESS of MinecraftForge, someone made a server mod that allows a login seperate from the MC login, so I can protect the OP accounts against non-premium users. Due to this, the server will also be accepting non-premium clients. Ill post an instance shortly.

You still need to be added to the whitelist, so you still need to tell me what your IG name is gonna be. Enjoy!

well Hax is what i use with a cracked launcher and DrD0g is one that i registered at minecraft.net but its not premium its to bypass the login. so put DrD0g btw it would help if you would send me the FTB mod pack from appdata/ftblauncher/modpacks as i cannot download the pack for somereason it just starts vanilla.

why not just install all the mods that are in the ftb pack?  instead of using the ftb pack it self then get someone to send the cfgs

Im working on uploading a pack. Itll have mods and configs, but no cracked launcher. Thats up to you to get.

As long as it launches whatever minecraft.jar is in the .minecraft directory, youll be fine.

Thats perfect. The server is just like any other server. It cannot detect your launcher.

I did, you dont need to remove gregtech from client side. only from server so it wont use it.
Needing portalgun 1.4.2.0.3 i assume its only released in FTB

The error references a 32bit install. I have a 64bit install. I found my issue. I just need to be able to point that launcher to the 64bit Java. I just dont know how

go to properties and check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator" and try running it in compatibility mode for windows xp

The server has been running for a few days now and has been mildly successful. Since CVT is down, feel free to take your time up playing Meinkraft. The VPS can more than handle it.
