just go to newegg.com and find yourself your own computer. use common sense. you shouldnt need that much HDD room for a school computer.. 350 probally would do it.
playing since 2010, moderator for over a year demoted for being an ass to an asshole then banned for speed hack then returned for awhile then dipped out

if you just want it for school this is the kinda thing you wanna get.

In basic terms:
i5
4gb ram
about 300gb hard drive

that should run gta reasonably as well.

Ps get w7 64bit if you can. 32 bit will only use 3.2 gb of the ram.

I have been locking on this pc
Samsung Series 9 NP900X3C

Could a pc expert from this forum lock at it and say what you think?

Dr_dog

That samsung is piece of shit.

graphic chip: Intel  -__-
1.7Ghz i5 - srsly
128GB is nowhere near enough for school stuff (windows tends only itself take about 90GB of space)
4GB which is shared with GPU so you got probably about 3.5GB useable after all.

You want to help me with a pc to me?

Ok well $500-1500 is a HUGE range for a laptop so i have one question to ask: Is it purely for school and just light gaming or school and heavy gaming? Here are my 2 picks:

Less expensive, good for school work and light gaming:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230234

More expensive, better option if going to do heavy gaming:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152339

For those who i know are going to claim that "intel Hd 3000 cannot play games" i will say YES it can. My last asus laptop had the same cpu with intel HD 3000 graphics and ran sa-mp on max settings at about 45 FPS. It could also run DiRT 3 on medium, and mw3 on medium as well. Those are the only games i can confirm that run on it because i didnt try anything else but those. I can tell you that hd 3000 will not run battlefield 3 because it does not support shader 5.0

I hope i can be of assistance  :)

If you struggle with this kind of thing. Take these specs into your local tecg store. Ask around and see what size laptop you can get with similar specs to this. But it must have at least 4gb of ram or you'll have trouble finding any games that run.

Matt with all due respect the ram is pretty much the least you have to worry about when running games. That's because you can pop out an old memory DIMM and put a new one in (high capacity obviously) and there you go. Easiest computer part to replace. Literally an ape could do it. Instead focus more on the 2 components that will determine what games you can (and can't) play which is the CPU (processor) and the GPU (video card/graphics card).

Most stock computers cannot have their ram upgraded. They are given a stock motherboard. Some more expensive computers can as well as custom ones. Think about it. If you were designing a computer, would you make it so that it is relatively easy to upgrade so that the customer doesn't have to pay for a new computer? No. You would make them buy a whole new computer. Marketing is the key here. Manufacturers don't make it so that it works out nicely for the customer. Most companies just want profit. This is why I prefer a custom/cheaper and more powerful pc. Most of the time it can be upgraded regardless.

Buy a Asus eee pc, is the best pc you get for school work.

I have this one and he is fast, i installed office 2010 and he dosent lag (i play gta sa with 20 fps), i use this pc for school and work because is small and light, my battery goes up to 6 hours but with low bright on screen, power save disk mode, wireless off, Bluetooth off and camera off, i cant have more battery life because i'm running win xp pro, if i had running win xp home i had more battery life time xD

I have the pc for a few years, i bought it when he become on stores and it comes with 160 gb disk, i formatted with win xp pro after few months, installed 2 gb ram and the pc is very good, i bet the last asus eee pc versions are very good too.

My pc: http://eeepc.asus.com/au/product1000h.html

It doesn't matter how much people are online it's about how much fun you have.
